This study aims to: develop and test the validity, legibility and effectiveness of STEM Mobile Learning Package ecosystems on students' science and technology literacy using R & D research design. STEM Mobile Learning Package was validated by media experts and material experts. The level of legibility is measured by questionnaire through the results of a small-scale trial of a Biology student class. The effectiveness of the application was measured in wide-scale test for biology and natural science students. Data were analyzed using descriptive quantitative. The results showed the the validity on learning package from experts showed valid in 83,6%. Some revisions are needed especially on video aspect which will be better filled with not only text but also voice. Base on data collected from 47 students who have completely filled 12 statements in questionnaire, about 78,7% students stated they could understand the questions very well. Most of students (97,8%) agreed that the use of STEM enhanced their science literacy. Percentage of students that agreed on 12 statements ranged from 74,5% to 100%. Thus those result indicated a high level of legibility Although learning packages can be studied independently, certain topics still requiredto be directly discussed. This learning package is effective on student scientific literacy ranging from 64.6 to 98.6. While the highest achievement of student technology literacy is 92 with an average of 70.32. This study concludes that STEM Mobile Learning Package Ecosystem has good validity and legibility, as well as effective on students' science and technology literacy.
Abstract. Kummoo W, Teampanpong J, Paansri P, Suksavate W, Utsa P, Duengkae P, Prompat S. 2020. Impact of highway on vertebrate roadkill in Nam Nao National Park, Thailand. Biodiversitas 21: 5540-5550. Roads lead to biodiversity loss, primarily through wildlife collisions. This phenomenon is widespread, despite limited attention in Thailand. To reduce road mortality, the roadkilled species and their distributions along the road become a significant component for designing management strategies. We surveyed vertebrate mortality covering 44 kilometers of Highway 12, passing through Nam Nao Nation Park in Phetchabun Province of Thailand for 34 replicates between August 2018 and July 2019. We recorded 1,389 carcasses of 578 amphibians, 540 reptiles, 190 mammals and 81 birds. The rate of wildlife-vehicle collisions (WVCs) was 1.089 ± 0.823 carcasses-km-1day-1, comprised mostly of amphibians. The distribution pattern of WVCs was arranged in spatial clusters. Five wildlife collision hotspots for four taxa groups were identified. Overall, the WVC presence was positively associated with vegetation types but negatively associated with distance to the forest edge, the presence of road barriers and the number of road lane. Concurrently, the numbers of roadkill incidents were positively associated with amphibians more than other vertebrate groups, the night time and number of daily vehicles. Our results suggest that WVC rates on HW12 vary among taxonomic groups, temporal scales and environmental factors. It highlights key hotspots where mitigation strategies should be implemented for biodiversity conservation.
Soundscape is an important component of national parks that are established for conserving biodiversity, natural resources and ecological processes, as well as serving tourism to inculcate conservation awareness. Nevertheless, anthropogenic noise from visitors is difficult to control and can disturb wildlife and visitor experiences. This study aims to illustrate the quality of soundscape in recreational areas of Khao Yai National Park (KYNP) based on soundscape components, sound pressure level, perception and the satisfaction of visitors on soundscape, and satisfaction on Sound pressure level in term of LAeq (dBA). Significant differences in the overall soundscape components, sound pressure level, perception and satisfaction on soundscape and satisfaction on sound pressure level at each recreational area were found. Noise from tourism also impacted the presence of wildlife in recreational areas. A correlation was identified between a higher nature-based experience and higher satisfaction on biophony and geophony. Soundscape satisfaction was influenced by satisfaction on sound pressure level, perceived soundscape, and some demographical factors (gender, the day of visit, hometown, recreational areas, visit frequency, income, education, and occupation). KYNP must monitor soundscape components, soundscape satisfaction, and sound pressure levels to maintain the quality of natural soundscape and visitor experiences in the recreational areas. Further research is recommended on using the proportion of soundscape components and sound pressure level as a key monitoring tool to determine the practical carrying capacity of tourists, as soundscape components can be changed due to sound pressure level and also affect the soundscape satisfaction of tourists.
This study aimed to identify the effect of the STEM Mobile Learning Package on Ecosystem upon students’ science and technology literacies. STEM Mobile Learning Packagedeveloped with R&D design was validated as a teaching model with good criteria’ by both the media and biology content experts.Based on the student assessment, the legibility aspect of this STEM mobile learning package was also classified as very good. The implementation of this learning package was then assessed by the biology and natural Science students from the Unnes faculty of mathematics, and sciencesstudents (FMIPA) as research participants. Data were analyzed descriptively by both qualitative and quantitativemethods. The findings showed that STEM Mobile Learning Package on Ecosystem was effective in terms of the student science literacy, ranged from 64.6 to 98.6. The highest achievement of student technology literacy was 92 with an average score of 70.32. In sum, the STEM Mobile Learning Package on Ecosystem was effective in developing students’ science and technology literacy. It is suggested that some learning packages be studied independently, other certain topics be directly presented by off-line orface-to-face discussion.
