Although patients have access to the arsenal of medicines, there is a cultural factor that elects the use of medicinal plants, which with the correct knowledge of the preparation and use can be well incorporated into the treatment as antihypertensive. The objective of this research was to evaluate the use of medicinal plants for the treatment of systemic arterial hypertension among users of the Basic Health Unit of the city of Paramirim / Ba. The research was quantitative, involving field work, presenting as an instrument of data collection an individualized questionnaire. Forty-five people were interviewed who cited the most used species, such as lemon balm, chayote, fennel, the form of preparation, part of the plant and indication of use. However, the results show the need to create public policies to train health professionals in the units to better guide and rationalize the use by the population.
