The expansion of population growth and exacerbated use of natural resources, taking into account the pollution generated and the finite nature of the fossil energies developed or the current questionable energy model. In this scenario of concern for the environment and the future of the planet, look for more and more alternative sources of energy. In this context, an outbreak of solar energy as an excellent source of sustainable energy, going to the control of non-renewable energy sources. This article aims to evaluate an application of solar energy as a substitution of energy sources, making a brief economic feasibility study for implantation in residential buildings, taking into consideration the economic profile of the Tocantins citizen. As a result, conclude that the installation of photovoltaic energy is feasible to meet the demand for residential residential energy, however, it is less than the economic point of view, since its high cost of implementation is high, depending on some type of financing or encouragement of new public public policies.
