This paper is concerned with the noise fields encountered in the working fluids of power plants under three headings: measurement, analysis, and interpretation. A brief introduction is given to the measurement techniques employed by the authors, followed by a discussion of the analysis procedures and equipment used, together with an account of the interpretation of results. The emphasis is placed on the analysis and interpretation of random data. The methods are general and may be used in other fields.
