Three experiments were conducted exarmmng short-term retention within individual object-discrimination learning-set (ODLS) problems. In Experiment I, it was found that intraproblem retention decreased during ODLS acquisition. Experiment II demonstrated that this phenomenon was not due to simple recency of experience with other ODLS problems. Experiment III demonstrated that retention was not influenced by the number of trials per problem or number of problems per session. These results were interpreted as supporting a conditional discrimination model of ODLS acquisition in bluejays.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
