Poly(
p
‐phenylene sulfide) (PPS) is an important industrial thermoplastic material. This article reviews the history, syntheses (both laboratory and commercial), and properties of PPS. Characteristics such as thermal transition, thermal stability, rheology, solution viscometry, size‐exclusion chromatography, UL temperature indexes, mechanical properties, chemical resistance, and electrical properties of neat PPS resin and reinforced PPS compounds, are all discussed. Significant areas where PPS resins are used are presented.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
