Curing for 3 days at 40 °C results in a linear shrinkage of less than 1 mil/in., and this shrinkage does not increase during postcuring at 100 °C even though 17-24% of the original epoxy groups react during the 100 °C postcure. When the liquid epoxy compound is placed in a 100 °C oven and cured for 1 day at this temperature, it shrinks 8 mil/in. and no additional shrinkage occurs during 7 days at 100 °C.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
