This study has the objective to describe academic work quality and work environment of Autonomous University of Baja California South, in Mexico, from the teacher's perspective. We used a quantitative, non-experimental, cross-sectional, descriptive method (Hernández, Fernández, & Baptista, 2014). We applied, electronically, a structured survey based on the change instruments and organizational environment designed by Kraut (1996). The analysis categories were academic work, work environment, college life, and decision making in the institution. The sample was non-probabilistic, of opportunity, obtaining the participation of 107 teachers of many campus located in the cities of La Paz, Cabo San Lucas, Loreto, Ciudad Insurgentes, and Guerrero Negro. The data analysis technique was descriptive, and processed in an electronic system corresponding to year 2013. The results showed a high commitment of teachers to values and principles of the Institutions (94.4%), strengthening their identity and belonging to the Institution.
In the present research, the data base obtained from the APIKS (Academic Profession In The Knowledge Basic Society) International survey is analyzed in a descriptive manner, focusing only on the national data corresponding to the participation of academics by gender in the different stimulus programs such as PRODEP, SIN, AND Academic Bodies (AB), the level to which they belong, and their perception as to whether they allow the improvement of both teaching and research. A sample of 3776 teacher-researchers belonging to different education subsystems in Mexico was used. At the end of the survey, a total of 63,800 academic were working, of which there are a total of 19,730 members affiliated to the National System of Researchers (SNI), in the year 2022 there is a participation of 7498 teachers in the Program for the Professional Development of Teachers (PRODEP) and 1378 Academic Bodies in the country.
This work shows the need to apply information and communication technologies (ICTs) with a Programming Logic Controller (PLC) to control humidity by remote monitoring in the refrigeration process of an agricultural industry located in the Mexicali Valley of northwestern Mexico, where large amounts of orange are grown in this region of the country. This industry there were automated electronic devices (AEDs) for humidity control in the refrigeration area to prevent the deterioration of this agricultural product, only that the AEDs installed inside the evaluated company, did not operate properly due to the presence of outdoor atmospheric pollution (hydrogen sulfide (H2S)) and oxide sulfur (SO2)), and extreme climates in summer and winter (variations of temperature and relative humidity (RH))in this area of the country, that had an negative effect in indoors environments, and damaged their electrical connections. The principal climatic variables are the temperature and relative humidity (RH). The humidity in the refrigerated room for the orange keep its nutritional and physiological conditions, had to be between 45% and 55%. As AED, did not function properly, the climate inside the agricultural industry was not controlled, causing low and high humidity levels. With indexes below 30% humidity in the refrigerated room, oranges dehydrated and began to wilt, in addition to losing weight that was considered as unfit products for marketing. And at levels greater than 60% humidity, in this agricultural product microorganisms formed and caused rot, considered as a defective product and in both cases causing economic losses. The PLC was used with a wireless system and installed in an isolated room that only specialized personnel could enter if necessary. This was done in this way, to avoid deterioration of their electrical connections and that they did not operate as the AEDs and had adequate humidity control, to constantly maintain adequate humidity in the refrigerated room and avoid the generation of defective products. The research was made out from 2018 to 2019.
This is a descriptive and comparative document obtained from a national database resulting from the "APIKS", Academic Profession in the Knowldge-Basic Society survey which analyses the incidence in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics, from the perspective of professors in Mexican universities. We will analyse the inclusion of women in research. Also, we will describe the changes that have been occurring in the forms and conditions of academic work, activities, performance, productivity, and degree of satisfaction nationwide. The sample that was studied was 3776 professors from the different higher education subsystems.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
