The manufacturing sector in South East Nigeria has many challenges concerning the incorporation of sustainability into the corporate strategies and operations of the industry, given its extractive nature and the numerous social and environmental impacts related to production activity. Attaining organizational sustainability requires the implementation of environmental management practice tools that create long-term value by embracing opportunities and managing risks derived from economic, environmental, and social developments. Therefore, this study investigated the effect of environmental management practice tools on the sustainability of manufacturing organizations. The goal of the study was to determine the relationship between environmental management practice tools and sustainability. A survey design was used for this study. A total of 363 questionnaires were distributed to the employees of the manufacturing firms, which included managers, supervisors, and line staff. The data collected were analyzed using Principal Component Analysis (PCA). Primarily, the study established that environmental management practice tools were significantly and positively related to sustainability. Thus, the study concluded that environmental management practice tools contribute significantly and positively to firms’ social, economic, and environmental sustainability. Additionally, the result of this study underlines the significance to manufacturing firms of carrying out environmental management practices. The ramifications are that manufacturing firms attempting to assert sustainability through EMP should have related knowledge with EMP. Furthermore, their environmental advantages will not convert into sustainability. The study adds to the body of knowledge by giving experimental pieces of proof identifying the interrelationships between EMP and sustainability.
The study seeks to assess the effects of leadership style on Employee performance (EP) of fast moving consumer goods (FMCGs) companies in South Africa. The specific objectives are: to determine the effects of autocratic leadership style on EP; to evaluate the effect of participative/ democratic leadership style on EP; to ascertain the relationship between laissez faire leadership style and EP; to assess the relationship between transactional leadership style and EP in the FMCGs. Quantitative research survey design was adopted for the study; both primary and secondary sources of data were utilized during the investigation. The sample size of 233 was obtained from the estimated population using Rao soft online calculator at 5% error tolerance and 95% level of confidence. Data was collected via questionnaires and analyzed utilizing Simple Linear Regression (SLR) and Pearson product moment correlation (PPMC). It was discovered that there is a significant relationship between the various leadership styles and the performance of organisations. However, transactional leadership style was found to account for more influence on employee performance than other styles of leadership. Therefore, the study recommends the transactional style of leadership for managers of FMCGs in order to increase employee performance, ensure profitability and sustainability of the organisation.
This study was done on the relationship between social media collaborations and ecosystem management in Enugu state. The study was premised on the case of herdsmen-farmers/villagers clash over grazing fields and farmlands in Enugu State being the ecology-related issue. Survey research design was adopted for the study. A sample of 100 social media group participants was selected using snowball sampling technique. The questionnaire was used for data collection. Content validity was used as a method for testing the validity of the questionnaire while Cronbach's alpha method was used for testing the internal consistency of the items on the questionnaire. Pearson’s Product Moment Correlation was used to test the hypothesis formulated for the study. Findings revealed that social media collaborations via Facebook, WhatsApp and Twitter have a significant relationship with ecosystem management. It was recommended that government and ecologically concerned agencies should employ social media collaborations as the policy for ecosystem management.
The effect of Six Sigma on Performance of MSF's in SouthEast Nigeria. The main objective is to determine the effects of Six Sigma on the performance of MSF's in SouthEast , Nigeria. While others are to: determine the extent at which process defines influence the customers' patronage of their product, determine the extent at which process measurement influences product positioning and determine the extent at which improvement on production processes influence customers retention. The result shows that process definition practice among MSF's significantly influenced customers' patronage, process measurement among MSF's was found significant influencing positioning and production improvement significantly influenced customer retention among MSF's in SouthEast Nigeria. The study concluded adoption of Six Sigma practices positively influences the performance of the MSF's in SouthEast Nigeria.
