Objective : To determine the effect of vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) the levels of prostaglandins and intensity of pain in primary dysmenorrheal. Methods : The levels of prostaglandin (PGF2α) in plasma measured by ELISA and pain intensity by verbal rating scales conducted on 35 women with primary dysmenorrheal (n=35) supplemented with vitamin B6 100mg for 4 days and controls with placebo (n=35). Results : Prostaglandin levels decreased significantly after vitamin B6 supplementation (2212.9+1374.2 vs 1490.3+1119.0; p<0.05) followed by a significant reduction in pain intensity (4.29+0.7 vs 1.71+0.5; p<0.05) in the test group compared to control. Conclusion : Due to vitamin B6 effects on decreasing prostaglandin levels and pain of primary dysmenorrheal, so that B6 vitamin can become the treatment for the primary dysmenorrheal. Metode: Pemeriksaan kadar prostaglandin (PGF2α) dengan ELISA dan pengukuran intensitas nyeri dengan verbal rating scales dilakukan pada 35 orang (n=35) wanita dengan dismenore primer yang mendapatkan vitamin B6 100mg selama 4 hari dan kontrol yang mendapatkan plasebo (n=35). Hasil: Kadar prostaglandin menurun bermakna setelah pemberian vitamin B6 (2212,9+1374,2 vs 1490,3+1119,0; p<0,05) disertai dengan penurunan intensitas nyeri yang bermakna (4,29+0,7 vs 1,71+0,5; p<0,05) pada kelompok uji dibandingkan kontrol. Kesimpulan: Vitamin B6 menurunkan kadar prostaglandin dan nyeri sehingga vitamin B6 dapat dipertimbangkan menjadi salah satu pengobatan dismenore primer. Objective: To compare the measurement of POP-Q components between multiparous and nulliparous women. Method: This study is a cross-sectional research conducted in several hospitals in Makassar during the period of June to October 2012, with 270 women as the subjects. Subjects were divided into three groups: nulliparous, parity 1-2, and parity 3 (multiparous). We analyzed the mean POP-Q components results between 3 groups using t-test, analysis of prolapse based on POP-Q components measurement, and analysis of correlation between risk factors with prolapse was done using Chi-square test. Result: There is a significant difference in POP-Q components measurement between multiparous and nulliparous women, consecutively for: Aa point -2.14 and -2.97 cm, Ba point -2.11 and -2.99 cm, C point -5.69 and -6.86 cm, gh 3.33 and 2.70 cm, pb 2.60 and 3.27 cm, TVL 8.65 and 9.06 cm, Ap point -2.35 and -2.93 cm, Bp point - 2.61 and -2.96 cm, D point -6.61 and -7.42 cm. In multiparous women, points Aa, Ba, C, D, Ap and Bp became more prolapsed, gh became longer, while pb and TVL became shorter. Conclusion: The proportion of prolapse is higher in multiparous women with significant associations with age, body mass index, education level, and history of heavy physical work, delivering a large baby and use of hormonal contraceptives. Objectives: The aim of this research was to assess the relationship between total testosterone level and female sexual function based on Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI) among the acceptors of combined oral contraceptive pill. Methods: The research was conducted in BLU of Dr. Wahidin Sudirohusodo Hospital and several teaching hospitals in obstetrics and gynecology sections of Medical faculty, Hasanuddin University from October to December 2012. This study assessed sexual function among 60 women as the acceptors of combined oral contraceptive pill. Sexual function was assessed using FSFI questionnaire which had been validated in several countries. This research used cross sectional design and the sample was selected using consecutive sampling method. The data were processed using SPSS with independent t test of the significant level of 0.05. Results: The results of the research reveal that total testosterone level among the acceptors of combined oral contraceptive pill who have impaired sexual function is low. The result of the correlation test between testosterone level and FSFI score indicates a significant level (p<0.05) with a correlation coefficient of (r) = 0.737. The testosterone level of female who have impaired sexual function is significantly different (p<0.05) from women who have normal sexual function. The cut off testosterone level that could indicate the occurrence of sexual dysfunction is 12.4 ng/dl. Conclusion: The total testosterone level among the acceptors of combined oral contraceptive pill who have impaired sexual function is lower than others who have no impaired sexual function. Objective: To evaluate the correlation between HPV-16 and 18infection and the cervical cytology changes among combinationhormonal contraceptives users. Methods: A cross-sectional study involved 40 women usingcombined hormonal contraceptive (oral or injection/DMPA contraceptive)and 40 women of non-hormonal contraceptive users wasconducted in Dr. Wahidin Sudirohusodo hospital, some affiliatedhospitals of Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology Faculty ofMedicine, Universitas Hasanuddin and a private clinic in Makassarfrom November 2015 and April 2016. HPV 16 and 18 genotypingin cervix using PCR method and cervical cytology changes usingliquid-based cytology (LBC) method were performed. HPV infectionand cervical cytology changes were analysis based on Fisher’s testand chi-square test. Results: A significant difference found only in parity (p<0.05)between users and control of baseline characteristics. Neither usersnor control were significantly associated with HPV-16 and 18infection and changes in cervical cytology. Conclusion: Combined hormonal contraceptives are not correlatedwith HPV-16 and 18 infection and changes in cervical cytology. Keywords: cervix, combined hormonal contraceptive, human papillomavirus
