Dentists have a crucial role within the best prevention measures, controlling etiological factors and early detection. Lack of general dentist carcinoma knowledge has been shown to be a serious factor to delays in referral and treatment. Dentists’ competence and confidence in detecting carcinoma could also be strongly influenced by their school of dentistry training. Hence, it's the responsibility of the school of dentistry to make sure the formation of a generalist with solid technical, scientific, ethical knowledge, promoting good oral hygiene and prevention of oral diseases. Therefore, the aim of this study was to assess dental student’s awareness, role in preventing and early detection of oral cancer. The study population included 100 dental students. The data was collected and statistically analysed. In this present study, 48% male and 52% female participated. Here, 76% of scholars are conscious of carcinoma whereas 24% of scholars are unaware of oral cancer. The risk factors for carcinoma mainly described by the scholars were 44% for smoking and 8% for alcohol consumption. Most of the scholars considered that labial/ buccal mucosa was the commonest site in diagnosis of oral cancer. The early detection of carcinoma improves survival, which was suggested by 46% of scholars. About 59% of scholars reported that they need sufficient knowledge regarding prevention and management of carcinoma. In this present study, out of 100 Dental students who participated in awareness of carcinoma, majority of the dental students were aware and had better knowledge on preventive measures of oral cancer. This study also highlights the necessity for an improvement of the teaching program regarding oral examination.
To determine the awareness of Asperger's syndrome among college students. Asperger’s syndrome is a developmental disorder affecting ability to socialize and communicate. It is an autism spectrum. People affected with this syndrome have problems in understanding others point of view. People affected with this syndrome have intense focus on a particular area or subject. The symptoms of Asperger’s syndrome varies from behavioural aggression to depression. People affected with Asperger’s syndrome generally have higher brain functioning than others. This syndrome can be acquired during life time or from birth. There is neither particular diagnostic criteria nor treatment for this syndrome. It may sometimes last for life long. Preparation of self structured questions and circulated through online survey link-Google forms. From the results We can conclude that awareness of Asperger's syndrome among college students was good but it was often considered as autism which is a neurological disorder.
Food serves as the primary factor for human survival. Various types of foods are consumed by different people of various localities. For children and adolescents, the food is consumed predominantly by its colour. Unfortunately, the natural colours of food are not maintained as such and are altered by using several non-permissible artificial food colour additives. A large body of laboratory research has demonstrated that changing the intensity/saturation of the colour of food and beverage items can exert a sometimes dramatic impact on the expectations, and hence on the subsequent experiences, of consumers (or participants in the lab). However, should the colour not match the taste, then the result may well be a negatively valenced disconfirmation of expectation. The study was designed to find the impact of colour of food in nutrition consumption among 100 participants. In our study, 58% male and 42% female participated, out of them 60% are undergraduates, 29% are graduates, 8% are postgraduates and 3% are uneducated. 75% of the population says colour of food affects nutritional consumption. 63% answered nutritional value of food is dependent upon its colour. The study found that the colour of food can cause an impact on nutritional consumption of health among the adolescent population. As prevention is better than cure, it is essential to implement certain rules or law to evaluate the frequency of using toxic non permitted colour as well as permitted colours and also to prevent ill effects on using both synthetic colour (non-permitted colours) and permitted colour above permissible law to improve health among the population.
Lifestyle modifications, work pressure, stress may lead to adverse habits like smoking, drinking and tobacco chewing. These habits may lead to poor oral health. Not only poor oral health may also lead to dental fear and dental anxiety. Self-administered questionnaires were designed based on knowledge, attitude and practice. The questionnaire was distributed through an online platform. The study population included people belonging to the age group of 18-24 age groups. The participants were explained about the purpose of the study in detail. The questions were carefully studied and the participants marked the corresponding answers. The data were collected and statistically analysed using SPSS software. Results were collected as an ordinal data and reported that smoking and alcohol causes increased dental fear which leads to poor oral health and some anxiety management techniques should be employed by dental practitioners to make the procedures in a simple way. For a satisfactory dental treatment and good oral health status, the state of mind of the patient is very important and it is influenced by many factors, including smoking and alcohol use. The aim of the study is to evaluate whether students are aware that the increased level of dental fear and anxiety is associated with smoking and alcohol use.
