Recording students’ attendance has been a major concern at Kolej Universiti Poly-Tech Mara. However, monitoring the attendance manually is a cumbersome issue to lecturers as students tend to manipulate the attendance by signing each other’s attendance. It has been found that fingerprint biometrics is capable to monitor the attendance systematically and efficiently. The aim of this study is to verify the students’ attendance using fingerprint biometrics. Evolutionary prototyping model were used to develop the students’ attendance system. Students are required to thumbprint using the fingerprint device installed in the classroom to record the students’ attendance. Their fingerprint images were captured by the fingerprint device and the images were then registered to the server for attendance process. The implementation of fingerprint biometric has helped lecturers to monitor the attendance of the students more systematic, efficient and ethically. By using the system embedded with biometrics, reporting on absenteeism is genuine and easy. Lecturers just need to print out and do necessary action. Therefore, fingerprint biometrics is useful and helpful in keeping track and managing the attendance of the students.
Cloud storage is an innovative technology that provides storage services to users. Many universities or companies have recently started using cloud storage services and realised their importance. However, preserving data security control in cloud storage is an issue and a very challenging task to solve. To safeguard data stored in the cloud, this study presents a web-based system using encryption techniques to handle the security and privacy issue in cloud storage. File Encryption Cloud Storage (FECS) system is a web-based system that secures students' academic files in cloud storage using encryption techniques. The system can encrypt students' academic files in cloud storage to avoid unauthorised access and misused risk. The targeted users are students of Kolej University Poly-Tech MARA (KUPTM). Moreover, the JavaScript and PHP programming languages are employed to create this system in the Microsoft Visual Studio Code Integrated Development Environment (IDE). The MySQL database is used as the backend of the system. The Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) technique is employed in the system. Furthermore, the AES approach yielded a positive outcome in the system's development. The survey's results indicate that the system is valuable and helpful to KUPTM students.
The emergence of electronic commerce online shopping has significantly increased the use of mail-order within Kolej University Poly-Tech Mara (KUPTM) communities. The tracking system provided by the courier services offers the status of delivery for each parcel until it reaches the designated destination. However, inefficiencies of managing the parcels at KUTPM may causing lost or misplaced. Therefore, the study offers an innovative approach where the study intended to invent a parcel tracking delivery and management systems for KUPTM communities. In particular, this invention relates to computerized tracking of delivered parcels using the barcode or tracking number that will notify recipients via Short Message Service (SMS) notification. The primary purpose of this study is to develop an efficient and secured system called the Parcel Tracking System. The system used a web-based service for managing and tracking the parcel. The development method of this system uses PHP and JavaScript programming languages in Adobe Dreamweaver platform with MySQL programme as the backend of the system. This paper focuses on the development process of the Parcel Tracking System. The findings found that the efficiencies of parcel tracking and security management are significantly improved. The application of Parcel Tracking System is promising and efficient for KUPTM communities. It is evidently that the proposed system was found successful and beneficial for KUPTM communities in tracking and managing parcels efficiently.
