Freedom is a concept with an extremely complex structure. Most of its components are concepts themselves with their own complex hierarchical structure. The authors discusse the components of the concept of “freedom” in the Ossetian and English languages, establishes its main conceptual, figurative-metaphorical and value characteristics in both languages and the specific meanings in each of these linguistic cultures separately. In the context of intensive intercultural communication, a comparative analysis of global languages and languages of small peoples makes it possible to establish the universal and national features of linguistic pictures of the world and contributes to the dialogue of cultures. The aim of the study is to identify the universal and unique components of the concept of freedom , represented in the Ossetian and English-language sociopolitical discourse. The scientific novelty of the work lies in the definition of the essential features of the concept of freedom in the Ossetian language on the example of the South Ossetian discourse, in which freedom plays a fundamental role in the formation of statehood, in the mentality of the people. Moreover, the given concept was for the first time compared in Ossetian and English, which allowed the authors to highlight the peculiarities of national self-identity of the speakers of both languages. The research was conducted on the basis of printed and electronic media of the Republic of South Ossetia, English press (both British and American), as well as Ossetian and English Dictionaries. A significant part of the material comes from the official bulletins and news from the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of South Ossetia, which is in Russian, Ossetian and English languages. The following research methods were used in the work: the method of conceptual analysis; method of contextual analysis; comparative method, the method of continuous sampling of material from the South Ossetian, British and American media. The results obtained indicate the similarity of a number of components of the concept of freedom in the minds of the American, British and Ossetian peoples, however, they emphasize that in the English language the concept of “freedom” has a binary character - the opposition of freedom - not freedom, while in the Ossetian linguistic culture, in addition to the main general meanings, saeribardzinad - freedom has a broader meaning and implies law, struggle, national freedom.
The article presents an innovative method of teaching foreign bilingual students of nonphilological specialties (engineering, physics and mathematics, and natural science profiles of the RUDN University). The authors develop a teaching manual “Russian Literature on the Screen” which follows the principle of integrated learning (involving focusing students’ attention on interdisciplinary connections and replenishing their knowledge of Russian literature, culture, and history in the process of teaching Russian as a foreign language) and allows using information and communication technologies in the educational process.
The article describes an adapted version of the innovative technology flipped classroom, which can be used in the practice of teaching Russian as a foreign language, especially in the context of distance learning. The relevance of the study lies in the need to create a methodology that meets the interests of the modern generation of students and is effective in the context of remote educational process. The purpose of the research is to describe the methodology for using the flipped class technology in a foreign language audience with the use of authentic Russian films - screen adaptations of literary works. To achieve this goal, analysis, systematization, generalization, description and other methods were used. The research materials were the feature film It Cant Be! (directed by L. Gaidai, 1975), stories by M.M. Zoshchenko Galosh, Funny Adventure, Wedding Accident, the play Crime and Punishment, files with theoretical and regional information, a file with tasks, a questionnaire. The methodology has been successfully tested with foreign students of non-philological specialties. A hypothesis was put forward, the innovative technology flipped classroom was adapted to teaching Russian as foreign language in the context of distance learning, authentic films-adaptations of Russian artistic texts were selected, and a system of exercises was developed. An experiment was carried out, and then the hypothesis was corrected, taking into account the questionnaire survey and control testing of students. The main results of the study are that the use of the suggested methodology increases the efficiency of the educational process, motivation of foreign students to study the Russian language, literature, traditions of Russian native speakers, literacy of students and their linguistic and cultural competence. It also forms the ability of foreign students to self-study and self-organization, as well as to successfully conduct the educational process in a distance learning environment. The authors of the article consider it promising to use the flipped classroom technology in teaching Russian as a foreign language based on the material of linguocultural and regional studies, with the help of which students will be able to master educational information in accordance with different levels of language proficiency.
The article substantiates the socio-economic and cultural-historical introduction of the Ossetians to the Russian language, which is considered as the result of the natural development of the standard of living of the highlanders. The aim of the study is to consider the history and characteristics of national-Russian bilingualism, the role of language interaction in the formation of a bilingual personality, society, identification of deformed linguistic processes that led to both the loss of the function of language proficiency and its use in everyday life, as well as measures that contribute to the revival of native language. The article emphasizes that the Russian language has become a civilizing factor that has significantly accelerated the development of the spiritual culture of the mountaineers, that it, along with the Ossetian language, is recognized as the state language of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania as a language of interethnic communication, it is provided with free functioning throughout the republic. The work also focuses on the ethno-demographic composition of the population, emphasizes the polyethnicity of the region, which contributes to the strengthening of the role of the Russian language as a language of interethnic communication. During the 20th century, a sharp delimitation of the functions of the Russian and native languages leads to a weakening of the role of the national language, which exposes it to the threat of extinction. Loss of language entails a loss of self-awareness, culture, perception of the world, as well as the loss of self-identification. According to the authors, the republic itself needs to be concerned about the widespread use and all-round development of the native language in national government bodies, public organizations of science, culture, education, health care and the service sector. We need to work with those native speakers who do not consider it prestigious to communicate in their native language in the family, do not try to pass it on to the next generation: the lack of linguistic continuity is destructive. To preserve the language in the context of globalization, the authors propose to strengthen the role of the state and society, to consolidate the efforts of scientists, statesmen and public figures in order to influence the activities of the media to preserve the language and culture; direct their efforts towards harmonious bilingualism.
