Surveys six EuroInfo Centres, looking at their organisation, materials and services, and information sys-The Eurolnfo Centre (EIC) project was launched in 1987 with the aim of serving the EC information needs of small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs). A pilot project of 39 centres throughout the EC lasted for two years and was assessed in May 1989. The assessment, which was carried out by the EC and member states, recommended creating a further 148 new Eurolnfo Centres. This survey looks at six Eurolnfo Centres currently in operation, three in the UK (Inverness, London, and Newcastle), two in Belgium (Antwerp and Namur), and one in Luxembourg. Each was sent a questionnaire asking about their organisation, materials and services, and information system employed. This was followed up by interviews with each. o OrganisationThe Eurolnfo Centres surveyed were first asked about their organisation and their replies are summarised in Table 1 below. The six Centres were hosted by a variety of organisations from local and central government agencies to chambers of commerce and industry and private consultancies.
