PEFC has some desirable characteristics for a small scale co-generation,those are potential for high efficiency and low cost, easiness of start-up and shutdown and so on. Taking this into account, Tokyo Gas Co., Ltd. launched two models of 1 kW class PEFC residential cogeneration systems named LIFUELTM into Japanese market in February 2005. TG has been developing the two systems with Ebara Ballard Corporation and Panasonic Corporation. Fuel processing technologies are very important for a natural gas fuelled PEFC co-generation to achieve high performance. TG has been developing a fuel processor and the technologies have been licensed to EBC. In this paper, our fuel processing technologies and durability evaluation of the fuel processor are reported.
