Despite a history of persecution, isolation, and relative obscurity, the early twenty‐first century has seen a cultural fascination with Mormon families and their practices. The primacy of family relationships is clearly understood against the backdrop of the history of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter‐day Saints. Belief in a Heavenly Father, the Plan of Salvation, and eternal marriage underscore the centrality of the family in Mormon doctrine. Mormon families participate in rituals and worship practices that serve to strengthen family bonds and reinforce family values.
