The title compound, (C 3 3À anion is surrounded by three water molecules and by six diprotonated amine cations. The 'free' fluoride ion is hydrogen bonded to four H atoms belonging to four dications and has a distorted tetrahedral geometry. The three water molecules are connected by hydrogen bonds, forming trimers that connect the AlF 6 octahedra and dications into a three-dimensional framework. Keywords: crystal structure; hexafluoridoaluminate; hybrid aluminates; hydrogen bonding.
Crystal Structure of Bis(propane-1,3-diammonium) Hexafluoridoaluminate Fluoride Trihydrate. -(H 2dap) 2[AlF6]F·3H2O (dap: 1,3-diaminopropane) is prepared by solvothermal reaction of Al(OH) 3, HF, and dap in EtOH (autoclave, 463 K). The compound crystallizes in the triclinic space group P1 (Z = 2, single crystal XRD) and consists of isolated [AlF 6] 3octahedra, propane-1,3-diammonium cations, free Fions, and H2O molecules. Each [AlF6] 3anion is surrounded by three H2O and six diprotonated amine cations. Three H 2O molecules are connected by hydrogen bonds forming trimers that connect the AlF6 octahedra and dications into a three-dimensional framework. -(ABDI, I.; AL-SADHAN, K.
