Designing matched pulse shaping filters with their cascade satisfying the Nyquist condition for minimum intersymbol interference constitutes an important task for almost all digital data radio transceivers processing an incoming data signal on the sampleby-sample basis. Despite their practical importance, there are only few sets of Nyquist filter definitions and design techniques to devise digital filter coefficients available for a designer. In this paper we propose a set of Nyquist filters that balance the time-and frequency-domain parameters in favor of a filter stop-band attenuation and residual intersymbol interference compared with the already existing Nyquist filter sets. Using a number of filter examples, this paper shows that the proposed Nyquist filters can be a good option for applications that need to fulfill strict limits of adjacent and alternate channel power attenuation while providing a low level of residual intersymbol interference and group delay of the digital filter.

One of the tasks we are engaged in at the present time is the definite establishment of Health Education as a field of medical theory. As a field of empirical action, Health Education has, of course, an age-long tradition. As a scienti6c discipline, it holds all the promising features of youthfurl freshness, of the untrodden paths in the woods and of the white spots on the maps, which used to be labelled with the characteristic inscription: &dquo;Hic sunt leones!&dquo; Yes, there are lions here. There are the risks of banality but, on the other hand, there are the rich possibilities of both qualitative and quantitative promotion of an authentically human, i.e. meaningful and healthy way of life. In order to prevent the risks and attain the rich possibilities, we have to understand the situation but, as I have already said, we cannot understand it, nor are we apt to plan the future, unless we know the past. Not the individual names, facts and dates but penetrating through them is of importance, if an understanding of the present is to be achieved.
