From the last decade, there is an increase in the demand of electricity, this will causing depletion in the fossil fuels which results increase in cost. So the focus is shifted to use of renewable energy sources along with the only utility grid but it is not sufficient to supply the power different loads. To overcome these problems, micro-grid (MG) is introduced and it is powered by renewable distributed generation (DG) systems, such as, micro turbines, fuel cells, PV and wind generation due to the limited fossil fuel. Out of the above sources, solar energy provides extraordinary benefits including environmental friendly, surplus availability and low installation cost due to the advanced technology and mass production. The solar grid connected micro inverters gain lot of intention in past few years due to its simple construction, reliability and endurability. Moreover, the grid connected micro inverter has high reliability and it can operate in abnormal conditions also like variations in voltage and current. The micro-inverter has attracted recent market success due to unique features such as lower installation cost, improved energy harvesting, and improved system efficiency. This article gives detailed review on different topologies for grid connected solar PV micro-inverter and suggests the reliable, suitable and efficient topology for micro-inverter.Article History: Received Dec 16th 2017; Received in revised form May 14th 2018; Accepted June 1st 2018; Available onlineHow to Cite This Article: Premkumar, M., Karthick, K and Sowmya, R. This set of data is being used to calculate the design parameters of the solar photovoltaic (PV) charge controller. The data presented in this paper are used to design an advanced charge control with higher capacity and more possible real-time applications. This design parameters of the controller will be useful for the off-grid systems, automatic street light, and signs control, etc., which requires the medium-level power, and more reliable operation. The design set of parameters such as inductance, switching frequency, duty cycle, power loss, and the efficiency are given in this paper for the rating of the 500 W charge controller. The data captured are compared with the various power level selection along with the different power semiconductor switches.

As electricity demand escalated with supply, though there are lot of thermal power station, nuclear energy and other conventional power sources. Yet, there is exhaustion in the above assets and adding dangerous impacts to the atmospheric conditions. The world searches for sustainable power source that it is normally accessible such as sun and wind. Apart from all the renewable energy resources, solar energy is readily harnessed for domestic application to meet demand. To increase the power conversion efficiency from the solar PV system it is better have a perfect DC to DC converters. The proposed outcome of this paper is to outline the DC to DC converter with MPPT algorithms to concentrate on extreme productivity at roof-top for solar PV application which decreases the cost of energy. In addition to that it also prevents panel miss matching at all environmental conditions for safer DC Voltage with flexible site design especially for domestic applications from the solar photovoltaic module. It is necessary to analyze the converters and MPPT algorithms under closed loop condition for the design and installation of solar PV system to the load or to the grid. This review summarizes few DC to DC converter topologies, maximum power point tracking algorithm and also paid attention on the advantages and disadvantages of these algorithms and topologies.

The cogging torque is the most significant issue in permanent magnet applications, since it has a negative impact on machine performance. In this article, the impact of magnetic materials on cogging torque is analyzed on brushless DC motors (BLDC). The effect of neodymium magnets (NdFeB), compression molded magnet, and samarium cobalt (SmCo) magnet on the cogging torque is analyzed to the BLDC motor designed for hybrid electric vehicle traction that has the peak power rating of 50 kW motor with 48 stator slots and 8 rotor poles. With the presence of these three magnetic materials, the cogging torque is estimated independently using multiposition simulation. The multiposition is simulated using a transient application that runs at constant speed. The results of cogging torque, rotational speed, angular position of BLDC motor, and magnetic flux density distribution have been presented. Also, the maximal, mean, minimal, rectified mean, and rms values of cogging torque were provided.
