Poly(butylene succinate) is one of the emerging bio-degradable polymer, which has huge potential to be employed in a wide range of applications. Further, it is also recognized as one of...
Poly(butylene succinate) (PBS) is considered to be one of the potential bio-alternates for petroleum based polymers due to it environmentally benign nature and biodegradability. Despite various advantageous, thermal stability and...
A new mild and efficient tin and titanium based catalyst combination have been explored for the synthesis of high molecular weight poly(butylene succinate). The new catalyst system is found to be more efficient and hydrolytically-as well as thermally-stable even at 250 C. Additionally, this new catalyst system is capable of producing very high molecular weight poly(butylene succinate) polymer in good yield even at lower temperatures.
Chemo‐selectivity of titanium tetrabutoxide towards trans‐esterification reaction during polycondensation step in poly(butylene succinate) (PBS) synthesis has been improved by activating the free terminal carboxylic acids in PBS oligomer using trialkyl borates. It is anticipated that the addition of trialkyl borates converts the free terminal carboxylic acid groups in PBS oligoner into a highly reactive acyloxy boron intermediate, which in turn enhances the selectivity of titanium tetrabutoxide towards trans‐esterification reaction to give the corresponding relatively high molecular weight PBS.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
