A metabolite of dydrogesterone was isolated from the urine of rhesus monkeys wich appeared to occur oniy in this species. It was identified as 21-hydroxy-9~,lOa-pregna-5,7-diene-3-o1-20-one.The rhesus monkey is the only one of 6 species, including man, to produce a dydrogesterone metabolite not having retained the 4,6-diene-3-one configuration of the parent molecule.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
