Background: Chest trauma implies trauma to anyone or combination of different thoracic structures. Approximately in one quarter of civilians, trauma deaths are caused by trauma to thorax. Many of these deaths can be avoided by precise clinical diagnosis and immediate management. Most wounds under these situations could be managed conservatively with or without tube thoracostomy. This study aims to assess and analyze the mode of presentation, pattern and management of chest injuries in rural areas. Methods: One hundred consecutive patients within the period of 14 months with thoracic trauma presenting in emergency department were evaluated. Results: Most of the patients (87%) were treated conservatively with minor wound repair and medical treatment and 13% patients had been treated with intercostal chest drain. Among these 13% patients, three were referred to higher centers due to massive initial hemothorax and longstanding pneumothorax. Conclusions: Majority of the chest injury patients can be treated satisfactorily in general surgery unit by conservative management or chest drain.

Giant juvenile fibroadenoma occurs in adolescent girls. These tumours become enormous in size and grow rapidly, though these tumours are mostly benign. These patients are almost always treated by breast conserving surgery. Here we present a case having unilateral giant juvenile fibroadenoma with bilateral multiple small fibroadenomas in an adolescent female aged 16years. The diagnosis of the patient was made on clinical examination, USG & FNAC. Confirmatory diagnosis was made by histopathology. We removed the giant one with "Swiss-Roll" procedure and others by simple enucleation. The aesthatic appearence of the breasts were preserved. The kidney is the most commonly injured genitourinary organ. Most injuries can be managed conservatively but nephrectomy may be needed in case of shuttered or avulsed kidney. Here we present a case of haematuria with blunt trauma to the abdomen. The patient was haemodynamically unstable and his abdomen was distended and rigid. FAST revealed intraabdominal and retroperitoneal haematoma with left renal injury. After rapid primary management emergency nephrectomy had done as there were multiple lecerations and avulsion in the left kidney. Post operative recovery and subsequent follow up was uneventful. A 24 year old young patient presented in the emergency department of Shaheed Monsur Ali Medical College Hospital, Uttara, Dhaka with swollen, curved and flaccid penis after forceful bending of his erect penis.The patient was anxious with normal vital sign. Rolling sign was positive. There was no bleeding at external urethral orifice, scrotum & testicle were found normal. On the above facts, penile fracture was diagnosed clinically. The penis was degloved upto the root of the penis & after evacuation of the haematomas, transverse tears were detected in Bucks fascia & tunica albugenia of the left corpus cavernosum, which were repaired by interrupted suture. In the post operative period sedative was given & recovery was uneventful. The aim of this case report is to increase the awareness of the condition which should be regarded seriously and treated expeditiously and to draw attention to its possible complications.
