Technology-assisted Project-based Learning is an innovative teaching strategy brought by the inevitability of information and communication technology. The present study examined the students' perception of technology integration into Project-based Learning in writing class. The study adopted an explanatory sequential mixed-method design. A total of 98 English students agreed to participate in the study. The data were collected through close-ended questionnaire forms and interviews to support the findings from the questionnaires. The data were analyzed by calculating the questionnaire responses using descriptive quantitative analysis and supporting them with a qualitative description and interpretation. The finding revealed that the students responded positively to technology-assisted Project-based Learning in their writing class. Seven items of the affective domain showed the students obtained positive experiences during the technology integration. Besides, six items of the cognitive domain also showed high percentages that indicated students' positive responses. Lastly, two items of the psychomotor domain showed that the technology encouraged them to be more active and enthusiastic. Therefore, this result implies that teachers and students should embrace technology integration to improve learning processes and outcomes.
This article aims to investigate a discourse in the form of video. The video is a controversial one, entitled “Tidak Sopan, Seorang Siswa SMK Negeri 3 Denpasar Bali Menanyakan Rumah Flyod Mayweather Kepada Guru” uploaded on YouTube on September 22nd, 2017. The objective of this article is to answer three main problems found in the discourse. Those problems are about the reason behind the title of the video containing the word ‘impolite’, the motive behind asking the location of Mayweather’s house, and the motive behind choosing teacher as the target of student’s question. The discourse was analyzed by using qualitative approach supported by several theories, namely politeness theory, norms theory, sor singgih basa Bali, prank theory, imitation theory, and hierarchy theory. The results showed that the use of word ‘impolite’ in the title of the video is correct based on several evidences that the researchers found in the video. The second result showed that the student has three motives of asking the location of Mayweather’s house, namely doing a prank, imitating other pranksters, and gaining fame. The last result showed that the motive of student in choosing teacher as the target is to show that he is more powerful than others.
Abstrak: Pembelajaran online merupakan sebuah inovasi dalam mode pembelajaran yang dibawa oleh keniscayaan teknologi informasi dan komunikasi. Studi ini menekankan pada manfaat pembelajaran online untuk otonomi siswa, motivasi, dan kemampuan kolaborasi sambil memberikan pembelajaran yang fleksibel bagi para pelajar. Penelitian ini dilakukan sebagai penelitian kepustakaan, di mana penelitian sebelumnya tentang manfaat pembelajaran online digunakan sebagai sumber data. Terungkap bahwa pembelajaran online dikatakan secara positif mempengaruhi otonomi, motivasi, dan keterampilan kolaboratif siswa, serta memungkinkan siswa belajar secara fleksibel sesuai dengan ketersediaan tempat dan waktu mereka. Ketersediaan sumber-sumber online, sarana, dan koneksi internet memungkinkan siswa mengatur pembelajarannya sendiri. Implikasi penelitian ini bagi guru, pendidik, dan siswa adalah bahwa semua harus merangkul pembelajaran daring dan berbagai aplikasinya untuk meningkatkan proses dan hasil belajar. Dengan demikian, penelitian ini berkontribusi menambah rujukan mengenai pembelajaran daring terutama kebermanfaatannya bagi siswa.Abstract: Online learning is an innovation in learning mode brought by the inevitability of information and communication technology. The present study highlights the benefits of online learning for students. The study was conducted as library research, where previous studies on the benefits of online learning were used as the data source. The study revealed that online learning is argued to have positively affected students' autonomy, motivation, and collaboration skills while providing flexible learning for the learners. The abundance of online sources, tools, and networking enables learners to navigate their learning. These results imply that teachers, educators, and students should embrace online learning and its supporting applications to improve learning processes and outcomes. The present study contributes to the limited literature on a general overview of online learning benefits seen from the learners' side.
