Article historyImproving students' problem-solving skills can be done through teaching materials. Teaching materials used in schools throughout Indonesia have not been integrated with local potential or wisdom. This research aims to develop teaching materials based on local wisdom to improve students' problem-solving abilities. The local wisdom raised in the teaching materials is the local wisdom of agriculture in Binjai Medan and the Balinese environment based on the local wisdom of the Tumpek Wariga ceremony. The development of teaching materials uses the ADDIE design model (Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, Evaluate). The implementation phase uses a quasi-experimental method with a non-equivalent control group design in a high school located where the local wisdom applies. The results showed that the feasibility test of teaching materials and the readability test showed that teaching materials based on local agricultural wisdom in Binjai were 83.643% (very feasible) and 77.13% (high). In contrast, environmental teaching materials in Bali were based on local wisdom Tumpek Wariga. Successively very feasible (88.10%) high (95.39%). Students' problem-solving ability has increased with an N-gain of 0.67 (medium) on teaching materials based on local agricultural wisdom in Binjai and 0.71 (high) in Balinese environmental teaching materials based on Tumpek Wariga. The study results showed that teaching materials based on local wisdom of Agriculture in Binjai and Tumpek Wariga in Bali were valid and could improve students' problem-solving skills on Ecosystem and Environmental Change materials. This is an open access article under the CC-BY-SA license.
Teaching materials based on wisdom and local potential are needed in environmental education in order to produce learning resources that are appropriate to students' cultural, geographical and social environment. The purpose of this study was to obtain a picture of the impact or effect of the use of teaching materials based on local wisdom of Tumpek Wariga on achieving students' problem-solving abilities. The method used in this study is a quasi-experiment with a research design that is a non-equivalent pretest-posttest design. The study was conducted at one of the high schools in Denpasar. The research sample consisted of 36 experimental class students who used teaching materials based on local wisdom Tumpek Wariga and 36 control class students who used national teaching materials. Teaching material based on local wisdom Tumpek Wariga has previously been validated by reviewers with results worth using. Data about students' problem-solving abilities are measured by essay questions arranged according to indicators of problem-solving. The research data did not meet the prerequisite test then analyzed through the nonparametric ¬Mann-whitney test. The analysis showed that there were significant differences in posttest results between the control and experimental classes with a significance level of 0.00. This shows that teaching materials based on local wisdom Tumpek Wariga can improve students' problem-solving abilities.
Teaching material is a component that has an important role in learning in the classroom. Students need contextual teaching materials to make it easier for them to understand the material. The development of teaching materials based on local wisdom in Bali aims to create teaching materials that are appropriate to the geographical and social environment of students. The aims of this study are to determine the process of development, to determine the feasibility and students' response to teaching materials based on local wisdom in Bali for first grade of senior high school. This teaching materials uses the ADDIE development model which consists of five steps. ADDIE steps include analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The development of teaching materials based on suitable materials, suitable presentation, suitable language, and suitable graphics from the National Education Standards Agency (BSNP).The instrument used to get the validity of teaching materials based on validation, students' and teacher responses are questionnaire of validation sheet and students' response sheet. Data analysis using qualitative descriptive. An expert review of the results of the assessment shows a value of 88,33% (valid) for expert material and 88,17% (valid) for media experts. Meanwhile the result of students' response is 84,47% which categories is "very strong". Based on validity results by reviewers and students' response, then teaching materials based on Bali local wisdom in environmental conservation can be use for biology learning. Further research is recommended to look at the impact of this teaching materials on 21st century skills of high school students.
