Shushkakshipaka (Dry eye syndrome) is becoming more common in general population. A number of contributory factors affect the severity of Dry eye. Prevalence of Dry eye ranges from 5% to 35% worldwide. In India, it is 29.25% based on Ocular Surface Disease Index (OSDI) data. Conventional approach in modern ophthalmology for dry eye syndrome is lubricating eye drops while unsatisfactory. But surely there are some shortcomings that give way to Ayurveda to deal with this problem. This clinical study was done to evaluate the effect of Tarpana Karma with Jivaniya Ghrita in Shushkakshipaka (Dry eye syndrome). An open clinical trial was planned for 10 patients presenting with clinical features of Shushkakshipaka (Dry Eye Syndrome) and local therapeutic ocular procedure Tarpana karma with Jivaniya Ghrita was done. On assessment of criteria selected, significant results were found in subjective parameters like Rukshta (Feeling of dryness), Gharshana (Gritty sensation), Darunavartmakshi (Hardness of eyelids), Karachaunmilana (Difficulty in opening and closing of eyes), Daha (burning sensation) and Intolerance to light and in all objective parameters. Thus, it can be concluded that, Tarpana Karma can be advising for successful treatment in patients of Shushkakshipaka (Dry Eye Syndrome).
Ayurveda, the Indian medical science emphasizes on disease prevention than treatment. In present era busy and sedentary lifestyle along with mental stress and irregular diet schedule leads to one of the common diseases in ano-rectal region known as Bhagandara (Fistula-in-ano). The surgical management of Bhagandara carries several problems and complications as severe pain for a long period during dressing. Operative raw site is the potential space for infection by faeces. No specific surgical method or other medication has proven complete remedy to cure Fistula in ano. But in Ayurveda a full-fledged management by the Kshar Sutra Therapy has been mentioned. It has gained popularity due to its minimal invasive accessibility and overall cure of the disease. It is the requirement of time to do further researches to get more effect in Kshar Sutra. In the present research work Guggulu-Kutaj Kshar Sutra application was done for the management of Bhagandara. 20 diagnosed cases of Bhagandara were selected from OPD and

Large scale studies have determined that increasing age, female sex, and Asian race are all associated with higher DED prevalence. Their occurs tear deficiency and ocular surface disorders, which produces symptoms like discomfort, visual disturbance and tear film instability. Clinically and etymologically, similar entity to Dry eye syndrome is Shushkakshipaka. In modern ophthalmology, conventional approach for Dry eye syndrome is lubricating eye drops which are not satisfactory. Ayurveda has a holistic approach to deal with this problem. This clinical study was done to evaluate the effect of Jivaniya Ghritapana in Shushkakshipaka (dry eye syndrome). An open clinical trial for 10 patients was planned. They were presenting with clinical features of Shushkakshipaka (Dry Eye Syndrome). Snehapana was done in all patients with Jivaniya Ghrita. Results: On assessing the selected criteria, significant results were found in subjective parameters like Rukshta (feeling of dryness), Gharshana (gritty sensation), Daruna vartmakshi (hardness of eyelids), Karachaunmilana (difficulty in opening and closing of eyes), Daha (burning sensation) & intolerance to light. Conclusion: Thus we can conclude that, for successful treatment Shushkakshipaka (Dry Eye Syndrome), Snehapana can be advised in such patients.
