Over a year has passed since the beginning of Covid-19 pandemic and the introduction of measures to limit the spread of the pandemic in Latvia. These have resulted in changes in all spheres of young people's lives, including the way they study and exercise. This study examines the role of Generation Z physical activity as a means of maintaining the well-being of the emerging workforce and the choice of teaching methods by different age groups and genders as well as the finances spent on it. The research methods include critical content analysis of scientific literature on Generation Z, modern teaching methods and the role of physical activity in young people's lives as well as descriptive statistical data analysis of primary data obtained from a questionnaire. The authors found positive correlation between age, gender, the occurrence of depressing mood or anxiety and engagement in physical activity and also identified that Generation Z spends less financial resources for their physical activities and well-being insurance (e.g., the empirical study shows that 84% of respondents spend under 20 hours per month on physical activity, with Chi-Square test p = 0.001); additionally, the study shows that the use of such teaching methods as group work, seminars and webinars for promoting physical activities are efficient under the Covid-19 pandemic situation, except for responders aged 16 – 19, who do not enjoy seminars and conferences (p=0.002) and webinars (p=0.001), albeit other age groups do not mind these teaching methods as well as group work, as shown by Chi-Squared Test (p>0.05).
The beginning of Covid 19 and the establishment of restrictions to curb the development of the pandemic on the territory of Latvia have led to the changing of the lives of the youth, including their physical exercise and study habits and practices. This article investigates the role of physical activities training for young males and females and their choice of teaching platforms by different genders. The study methodology encompasses critical examination of previous research conducted on Generation Z, gender differences and the significance of physical exercise and sports in for the youth combined with statistical evaluation and assessment of primary survey data. Compare with previous articles this article is constituted by its identification of the way in which gender differences influenced changes in physical activity and in which attitudes towards healthy lifestyles and physical activity changed before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. The authors of the study observed substantial differences between the answers of males and females about their health before and during the pandemic, with Independent Samples t-Test (p=0,03) and (p=0,025), which is likewise confirmed by the answers about the presence of depressive moods, which are more pronounced in females (p=0,004). In assessing the difference between males and females in the area of physical activities, differences were observed both before and during the pandemic (p=0,001) and (p=0,005), with females doing less physical activities than males both before and during the pandemic. To direct their physical activities, females are more likely to engage an instructor or attend training sessions via special platforms than males (p=0,001). In examining the most popular applications and platforms for teaching physical activities, no substantial difference was observed in their use between the two genders.
Local vibrostimulation (further in text - LV) is innovation as a part of training method that helps athletes to regain the power and get ready for next training faster. There are many discussions about how to increase moving speed in rowers. Many scientists research the possibilities of increasing moving speed in this sport. The following methods were used in the study: tests – Concept-2, LV manipulations, electromyography and mathematical statistics. The electromyography was made with Biometric LTD. LV manipulations were done to the muscles erector spinae, latisimus dorsi, teres major, teres minor, trapezius, infraspinatus, deltoideus, slenius capitis, triceps brachii, gluteus maximus, semitendinosus, biceps femoris, semimembranosus, castrocnemius, tendo calcaneus, rectus femoris, vastus lateralis, tensor fascia latae, vastus medialis, sarterius, ligamentum patellae, tibialis anterior, rectus abdominis, pectoralis major and biceps brachii. We using 100 Hz frequency, 2 – 4 mm amplitude and different pressure on the muscles. The total LV application time was 5 to 20 min. The obtained data were processed using mathematical statistics. The results: having stated the result difference before LV and after it. The results testify significant improvement of Concept-2 tests results and electromyography results, what is showed by the difference of the mean results. Comparing the results of the rowers of EG and CG they have differences in the left side muscle latissimus dorsi after the t-test where p>0.05, but stating the percentage of the mean result difference of this muscle it was found out that p>0.05 what also shows significant changes in the muscle biopotential (mV).
The article analyzes the influence of outdoor activities to creative thinking in children of preschool age (5-6 years). In today's education already from pre-school age is not sufficient with traditional learning. At the same time the use of this knowledge must be developed for use in various life situations. This requires creative thinking - the creation of new ideas. Perschoolers imagination knows no boundaries and therefore must be used. Excellent confirmation gives the outdoor environment - nature and natural processes, changing weather conditions.Outdoor physical activities is a precondition for the acquisition of skills necessary for life, while creative thinking promotes the development of these skills in the further use of the various life-changing situations. The study analyzes the outdoor activities lesson content and their organization, and proven creative thinking of fostering positive trends in the experimental group compared to the children in the control group.
Whole body vibration is a worldwide innovation as a part of training method that helps athletes to regain the power and get ready for next training faster. However less attention is paid to local vibration where an isolated muscle or muscle group is stimulated by the use of a vibration device. For the reason to determine the effect of local vibration on anaerobic capacity of rowers, two research groups were assembled from the students of Murjāņi Sport Gymnasium (MSG) during the period of time from November 13, 2010 to March 20, 2011 - the experimental group (EG) and control group (CG). We manage tests with stationary Concept-II ergometer, EMG and goniometry before and after the sessions of local vibrations. After the local vibration sessions for experimental group, the anaerobic test results prove considerable increase on the stationary rowing ergometer Concept - II. As for the control group, there were no considerable increase observed. EMG proves considerable Triceps Brachii muscle activity improvement for the experimental group, yet the activity improvement was not observed for the control group.
