Considering this imperative, the present review focuses on the service quality of online teaching, which has become a new normal during the pandemic. The pandemic has resulted in a paradigm shift of imparting education from brick to click classrooms. Hence, this article reviews the literature on the factors influencing service quality of click classrooms and mentions the parameters that lead to learners’ satisfaction. The systematic review helps in understanding how the research in this field has progressed. It is evident from this review that creating an interactive learning environment, giving prompt feedbacks, providing rich digital resources and course content, competent and skilled faculty members and continuous student support play a crucial role in enhancing the service quality of click classrooms leveraging learners’ satisfaction. The findings of this study support the educational institutions towards developing a sound and sustainable online learning environment by comprehending the students’ expectations about the service quality of an online learning environment. The study aims to propel future research works towards improving the service quality of click classrooms and enriching learners’ experience to impart quality education for all the stakeholders.
PurposeThe current research aims to map and investigate how human resource management and lean practices can be integrated. This investigation will help identify the HRM aspects critical in the success of lean initiatives while exploring the research gaps in the existing literature. The review also aims to delineate the benefits and challenges of integrating lean with HRM systems to discuss further research and practice areas.Design/methodology/approachThis study utilizes a systematic literature review method to identify and synthesize the existing literature. As part of the process, a protocol that provided a plan for the review was followed, including the research questions and the data to be extracted.FindingsThe study results indicate that aspects of HRM practice and policies such as training and development, teamwork, motivation, communication, leadership, are key enablers of lean initiative deployment and success. The benefits of the integration of human resources with lean can help in lean training and development, communication of lean initiatives and successes, allocating and hiring continuous improvement personnel, and supporting leadership in lean deployment. Challenges to integrating lean and HRM practices included lack of integration and collaboration between disciplines. Further exploration areas in successful lean deployment would be practical longitudinal case studies on lean deployments with human resource (HR) partnerships and involvement.Practical implicationsThis review paper has crucial implications for practice relating to, integration of lean with HRM structures and tailoring HRM initiatives to ensure the success of lean deployment and reduce risks of failure.Originality/valueThe systematic literature review study conducted in this paper is the first of its kind to integrate and map the HRM concepts that can be integrated with Lean to deploy the initiative successfully. This mapping is critical for ensuring the success of lean methodologies within an organization and paves the way for future research. In addition, managers and organizations can find support and guidance from this study to focus on vital areas of partnership between their lean and HR programs.
Performance management is one of the most important human resource (HR) development (HRD) practices and is crucial for every organization. To improve the performance of the employees, it is very necessary to evaluate their performance at regular intervals to understand where they stand, what is being expected from them and what they are actually contributing. The current study deals with the impact of performance management system (PMS) on job satisfaction of faculty members in technical education institutes of Nagpur. The five-item research instrument for job satisfaction was designed referring to 'Job Description Index (JDI)' developed by Smith (1969). The 25-item research instrument for PMS was designed, referring to the research instrument developed by Anupriya Singh (2013). Therefore, a 30-item research instrument was generated for the purpose of the study. Based on this, a questionnaire was designed and administered to 175 faculty members using non-probability convenience sampling method. Principal component analysis with varimax rotation was used to determine construct validity and Cronbach's coefficient alpha to determine the scale's internal consistency. Regression analysis was used to determine the relationship and impact of PMS on job satisfaction. The results of the study reveal that there is a positive and significant impact of PMS on the job satisfaction of faculty members. Employees with high-quality performance appraisal experiences were more likely to be satisfied with their job. The study divulges that the factors, such as, performance planning, feedback and counselling and procedural justice, are the factors of PMS which have a positive and significant impact on job satisfaction of faculty members.
