The statistical estimate of the number of local minima in an energy function obtained by a finite random sampling, due to Walker and Walstedt (W%), is clarified. In particular, it is found that an additional assumption, of the Bayesian type, seems to be needed, and the consequences are discussed in some detail. The relaxation of the explicit assumption of W%', that each minimum has equal a priori probability of being sampled, is discussed briefly.
ERRATA 2611Accordingly, f(t) in the last paragraph of Appendix B and in the ordinate of Fig. 6 should be replaced by 4(t). The last sentence in Appendix B should be changed to "Function 4(t), the probability that no jumps occur in [0, tj, is depicted in Fig. 6. " The caption for Fig. 6 should be changed to "Function @(t) corresponding to the jump-rate distribution (2) is shown when p = 1. t = zest is the reduced time. " 1990 The American Physical Society Erratum: Superconducting pairing of holes in the antiferromagnetic state of the two-dimensional Hubbard model [Phys. Rev. B 39, 2956 (1989)) In the abstract and in the text, we stated that the Cooper instability for doped holes occurs in the singlet d-wave channel. Since the spin-up-spin-down pairing state in a spin-density-wave background is actually an admixture of both singlet and triplet states, ' the word "singlet" in the above statement is incorrect and should be dropped. In Eq. scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
