Technology as a major social form has been heavily structured into societies and has tremendously affected and continues to affect all aspects of peoples' life, particularly interacting and communicating with one another. The goal of this qualitative study is to comprehend the impact of technology on human interaction, utilizing the Social conflict perspective. Social conflict perspective perceives and faults many societal problems on capitalism. Capitalists have created technology and continue to create mass production of new technology to suit their imagination and maximize their profits. For this study, a qualitative research; secondary analysis of data is used to see how technology affect human social interaction and social structure.Analysis of data reveals that technology has benefited human society, particularly in revolutionizing the medical field and playing a major role in scientific research. However, it has its own drawbacks for individuals and the society as a whole. Nowadays, technology has serious social cost, most notably, "mass alienation." It has already weakened our "collective conscious", has become opiate of the masses and a source of disintegration, deviance, strain, and divisiveness. If the progression of technology continues at the current pace, we are likely to witness more class conflict, war, environmental degradation, poverty, and more internal and external alienation.
In today’s complex society, we encounter various societal issues. However, race as an attribute and as a major social form tremendously affects many aspects of individuals’ lives, as well as society as a whole. It continues to shape social, political, and economic hierarchies. Many sociological theories that have focused on race and racism, but few have focused on an in-depth understanding of subtle racism and its socio-historical constructs. The purpose of this paper is to discuss and explore race, color, and racism, particularly the subjective form of racism, utilizing the Pool Theory.Pool theory, based on acquired idea from the billiard game, asserts that racism is formed through people’s implicit attitudes, feelings, and behaviors. It emphasizes that race, like many other social concepts, is socially and culturally created by the dominant groups for labeling others to suit their own imagination and goals. Based on generalizations, the theory accentuates that race is subjective and implicit, and that skin color is highly valued in society. According to this theory, those who possess favorite colors are more likely to be seen as superior, influential, valued, and successful in constructing concepts that becomes social reality. The choice of colors and the position of the billiard balls could be the consequence of implicit feelings and biased beliefs about others. Power differentiation, disparity, and colorism are evident in this game. Pool theory refutes color blindness, which is the belief that racism is no longer an issue in American society. The main objective of this study is to encourage future research in theory building, emphasizing the implicit aspects of racism. Additionally, this study can serve as an avenue for literature review, particularly in relation to race and racism.
There are many sociological studies that have consistently demonstrated the importance of workplace alienation and its association with human health. However, nearly all research has focused on the objective dimension of alienation, overlooking the significance and in-depth understanding of subjective or covert forms of alienation. The purpose of this study is to explore the role and impact of subjective alienation on the mental and physical well-being of individuals, utilizing secondary analysis of data. The spillover effect of this type of alienation in relation to workplace behavior can significantly impact many aspects of people’s lives. Generally, alienation is the feeling of being disconnected and often occurs in the presence of, or presumed differentiation in social status. It lies in discrepancy and contradiction between subjective emotion and objective sensation; it is an inauthentic human relationship. This study finds that as a subtle form of bullying, covert alienation can produce significant levels of stress, which has countless consequences including emotional, financial, and physical problems. The findings also suggest that a lack of support in helping an alienated individual results in further alienation, leading to deviant behavior. Overall, this study may be helpful to organizations in recognizing maladaptive behaviors that might cause workplace alienation. Moreover, this study can be additional avenue to literature reviews, specifically in the area of subjective alienation.
