I t is no surprise to find that those living in lower socioeconomic environments are more prone to suffer from several stress-induced physical and mental disorders. Financial stress is often cited as one of their leading causes, particularly in westernised cultures. It is now well documented that extended periods of stress, regardless of source, can increase susceptibility to a myriad of illnesses and disease, both physical and psychological. Most, if not all of us, can relate to experiencing stress at some point in our lives, but unfortunately for some, this can be a near lifelong affliction.
