Low competence in English for the students of Non English native speakers has been crucial so far for the teachers in language teaching in Indonesia. This study attempts to explore students ‗motivation in learning English at STIE Perbanas Surabaya. This is a qualitative research and a case study. This study analyzed the data by means of a descriptive analysis. This method was chosen to describe the qualitative data taken from the students at STIE Perbanas Surabaya who were taking English subject. The data were collected using questionnaire. Some of the students were also interviewed in depth to triangualize the data related to their motivation in learning English. It was found that there are two types of motivation by the students of STIE Perbanas in learning English: intrinsic and extrinsic. They agreed (78%) that they are studying English because it is a compulsory subject in this college. Besides that, they have several factors of motivation affecting the students' learning English as foreign language such as local education system, attitudes to the target language, and teacher factor.
Low competence in speaking for the students of Non-native English speakers has been crucial challenge so far for the teachers in language teaching in Indonesia. This study attempts to explore the effect of webinar applied in teaching speaking on Students of Non-native English Speakers at one of Business schools in Surabaya. There are three classes observed in this study. Before the webinar was applied, the groups were given test to check their proficiency. After conducting the webinar class, the post-test was given to the groups. The instruments to get the data was the oral test. The results reveal that there is an improvement on post test score in the two out of three classes observed. In contrary, the last class has no improvement on their post test score. Moreover, barriers found during the implementation of webinar in speaking class will be explored. HIGHLIGHTS: There is an improvement on the speaking score with webinar using on the two from three classes observed. Practically, the findings of this study are likely able to give positive contribution and technology using experience to all English teachers as well as the students.
Medokan Ayu Mangrove Botanical Garden is managed by the Medokan Ayu Tourism Awareness Group (Pokdarwis). Pokdarwis has 54 Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). The management of the Pokdarwis organization and the Medokan Ayu Mangrove Gardens is still in manual form. Pokdarwis management `s views they need information systems and technology to overcome them. This condition was increasingly needed when the Medokan Ayu Pokdarwis had to temporarily close the Medokan Ayu Mangrove Botanical Gardens due to restrictions on community activities to stop the spread of Covid-19. Perbanas Hayam Wuruk University (UHW) partnership team provides a solution by presenting the Pokdarwis website with an online network. The website is socialized on how to operate, equipped with features that are integrated with MSMEs. The results of the socialization based on the evaluation provided benefits for a number of participants, so the PKM team was still providing assistance for the operation of the website. Pokdarwis Medokan Ayu also hopes that the socialization will continue in the future.
Warga Darmorejo Kota Surabaya mayoritas masuk dalam kategori ekonomi menengah ke bawah. Rata-rata wanita paruh baya hanya memiliki kesibukan sebagai ibu rumah tangga. Beberapa mempunyai produk industri rumahan yang sederhana dan skala usahanya untuk penduduk sekitar saja. Program pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk membantu meningkatkan taraf hidup masyarakat Darmorejo Surabaya dengan memberikan wawasan tentang kewirausahaan. Metode yang digunakan dalam pengabdian ini yaitu memberikan pelatihan kewirausahaan, pendampingan produksi, pelatihan administrasi pembukuan, sampai dengan pendesainan logo produk. Hasil program pengabdian masyarakat antara lain, peningkatan minat berwirausaha, menghasilkan beberapa produk baru, terdapat pencatatan administrasi pembukuan, dan hasil akhir produk berupa bermacam-macam produk unggulan warga Darmorejo
ABSTRAK Sentra Wisata kuliner (SWK) yang digalakkan oleh Pemerintah Kota Surabaya mulai menjamur di Kota Surabaya dengan tujuan untuk membangkitkan perekonomian masyarakat. Namun, beberapa SWK binaan Pemkot Surabaya pun masih yang kurang mendapat tempat dimasyarakat. Permasalahan yang dihadapi oleh PKL di SWK di Convention Hall yang terletak di Arif Rahman Hakim adalah sangat sepi pengunjung, bahkan sebagian pedagangnya tidak melakukan aktivitas perdagangan. Terlebih saat PPKM Darurat diberlakukan. Kegiatan Tim Pengabdian masyarakat menawarkan beberapa solusi terhadap masalah ini, yaitu memaksimalkan pemasaran digital dan memberikan pelatihan dan pendampingan pemasaran digital melalui beberapa cara. Kegiatan ini telah berlangsung secara daring dan luring dengan peserta pedagang SWK Convention Hall Surabaya. ABSTRACT Culinary Tourism Centers (SWK) promoted by the Surabaya City Government began to mushroom in the city of Surabaya with the aim of revitalizing the community's economy. However, some SWKs assisted by the Surabaya City Government are still lacking a place in the community. The problem faced by street vendors at SWK at the Convention Hall, which is located in Arif Rahman Hakim, is that there are very few visitors, even some of the traders do not carry out trading activities. Especially when the Emergency PPKM is enforced. Community Service Team activities offer several solutions to this problem, namely maximizing digital marketing and providing digital marketing training and assistance in several ways. This activity took place online and offline with traders participating in SWK Convention Hall Surabaya.
