This research aims to reveal at the management of human resources and the management of digital systems in the libraries of state Islamic universities, specifically in the North Sumatra region, namely UIN North Sumatra Medan, IAIN Padangsidimpuan and STAIN Mandailing Natal. This study used a qualitative approach with data sources are the head of the library, librarians and users, both lecturers and students. This research data collection technique used observation sheets, interviews and focus group discussions so that the resulting data is more comprehensive. The data that has been collected is analyzed with interpretation. The results of the study indicate that there is an imbalance between users and human resources, this is the cause of the service in the library is not good. Increasing the quality of human resources in the PTKIN library in the North Sumatra region is very urgent to be carried out to optimize performance and become a driver of other resources more optimally. This optimization is also to support the competitiveness of libraries in this massive digitalization era, so scientific knowledge development is progressively advanced in Islamic universities in North Sumatra. This research was conducted in North Sumatra, by selecting three research locations altogether under the auspices of PTKIN (State Islamic Religious High School) namely the Library of North Sumatra UIN Medan, IAIN Padangsidimpuan and STAIN Mandailing Natal. The selection of this location was based on the representation of religious college libraries in North Sumatra. The three universities have different characteristics. This study aims to see a portrait of a university library in North Sumatra. The existence of a library is very vital in improving the academic quality of a university. The research model used is qualitative, by extracting in-depth data from the point of view of informants, through FGD (Focus Group Discussion), Observation and documentation studies. The results show that there are three roles of library managers in realizing an effective information service system in university libraries. North Sumatra, among others; providing guidance services to users (users), providing circulation services, "providing reference services, also encountered obstacles, such as limited resources, while the efforts of library managers to realize an effective information service system, namely training for managers and improving service management
This study aims to analyze the historicity and dynamics of Islamic education institutions in Indonesia starting from the classical period, colonialism period, and pre- and post-independence periods. This research uses library research method. Data analysis using analytical descriptive analysis techniques. The results of the study show that Islamic education in Indonesia is the same age as the existence of Islam in the archipelago. Broadly speaking, the history of Islamic educational institutions in Indonesia can be divided into three periods. First, the classical period of the 13th - 16th century, namely since the entry of Islam in Indonesia, the establishment of the Islamic empire, the era of the Islamic empire until the entry of colonizers into Indonesia. Several institutions during this period were mosques, Islamic boarding schools, menasah, rangkang and dayah, surau. Second, the colonial period until the independence period (1600 - 1945). At this time it was divided into two, namely during the Dutch colonial period, there were several institutions namely Elementary Education, Latin Schools, Seminarium Theologicum, Academie der Marine, Chinese Schools. During the Japanese occupation there were several institutions, namely Basic Education (Kokumin Gakko), Advanced Education, consisting of Shoto Chu Gakko, Vocational Education, Higher Education. Third, the period of the independence era (1945-present). There are several institutions, namely pesantren, madrasah, schools, PTKI.
