The purpose of the study, which is a descriptive survey research, is to ascertain the limitations placed on undergraduate students' use of social media in postsecondary institutions. The study's focus is Ignatius Ajuru University of Education. The population of the study consists of all undergraduate students in the curriculum studies/Instructional Technology department of the faculty of education at Ignatius Ajuru University of Education. 200 pupils made up the study's sample. Candidates were chosen through a simple random sampling process. The instrument used for the study to collect data from respondents is the Constraints to the Use of social media on Undergraduate Students in Tertiary Institution (CUSMUSTI), a structured questionnaire with 30 item questions with a reliability co-efficient of 0.74. Mean and standard deviation were used to statistically respond to the study questions, and the Z test was used to statistically assess the hypothesis. The study found that older teens who use social media in a passive way, such as by just scrolling through other people's images, report lower levels of life satisfaction and are more likely to propagate untrue rumors. It is recommended that young and old people should create more time for sleep so that their mental health can improve.
The education sector is becoming more and more reliant on modern technology, which has led to constant communication with students and the availability of many forums for learning support. The study adopted a correlational survey research designed to examine the impact of modern technology on undergraduate students for teaching and learning in tertiary institutions. Three research objectives, three research questions and three hypotheses guided the study. The population of the study is 122 year two students from the department of library and information science, Faculty of Education, Rivers State University and 128 year two students from the department of curriculum studies/instructional technology, Faculty of Education, Ignatius Ajuru University of Education. A sample of 100 students was used for the study. A structured questionnaire was used for the study with a 32 item. Face validity and a reliability coefficient of 0.82 was obtained. Mean and Z test were the statistical tools used for the study. According to the report, modern technology gives teachers and students immediate feedback and enables students to pick up practical life skills. It was suggested that teachers give students a list of places in their school district that offer free internet access (cafés, libraries, restaurants, etc.).
This investigation of social media and quality control in teaching and research was done. The investigation used a survey methodology. Ignatius Ajuru University of Education was the site of the investigation. All of the lecturers at Ignatius Ajuru University of Education made up the study's population. The study included 100 lecturers as its sample. For the study, the mean and standard deviation were used. In order to gather data for the study, a structured questionnaire titled "Social media and quality assurance for teaching and research purposes" was utilized as the instrument. Simple random sampling procedures were also used. Test retest was applied to measure reliability of the instrument and 0.84 coefficient was obtained. Mean was the statistical tool used for the study. The study found that social media sites like twitter, Facebook and Pinterest are helping teachers and students communicate and share knowledge and also carrying out research. Also, the study found that some lecturers have more than 40 articles published online through the use of social media sites. Based on the conclusion, the researchers recommended that lecturers should encourage other lecturers to use social networking sites in their teaching and research publication. Furthermore, social networking sites should be encouraged so that more publications can be done using social media.
