This report describes a new method for the fabrication of the "spun" electrode consisting of ionomer and catalyst supported on carbon. The obtained spun electrodes have a porosity and in-plane gas permeability more than ten times as large as an electrode made by conventional coating process. Spun electrodes are introduced to the membrane electrode assembly(MEA)for PEFC by direct fabrication on a membrane. The performance of MEAs was evaluated and it showed lower mass transfer loss than that using a coated cathode.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
