To date backlight solutions for large size LCD TV's are relying on direct lights using multiple tubing systems based on mercury. Besides other drawbacks the use of Hg has to be paid off by intrinsic Hg reactions with lamp components which result in blackening and efficiency depreciation. Direct light B/L units with a large number of discharge tubes are suffering much more by that intrinsic drawback than all other known systems relying on Hg. As a consequence, it seems to be questionable whether the demand of TV application to guarantee a uniform aging over lifetime can be met. With the 32″ lamp of the new PLANON generation a breakthrough for LCD TV backlighting has been achieved. The mercury free, xenon based one‐body lamp solution delivers instant light and long lifetime. Maintenance problems and the uncertainty of an inhomogeneous appearance during lifetime as, e.g., shadowing or striping of the radiation pattern in the LCD panel area as they may reveal in mercury based systems do not arise. After the redesign of lamp and production technology of PLANON the door to a cost effective mass production with the ability for an up scaling to high volume production within short times has been opened.
Secondary non-Hodgkin's lymphoma of the central nervous system is typically a late manifestation of systemic T-cell lymphoma, with a 2-month median survival time after the development of neurological disease. Of the reported patients with this late complication, only 1% manifest spread of the disease to the brain parenchyma. The authors report a patient with an unusual initial neurological presentation of systemic T-cell lymphoproliferative disorder and associated space-occupying lesions of the brain parenchyma. The diagnosis was supported by extensive molecular, immunological, and histopathological analysis. Neurological symptoms appeared early in the course of systemic disease and were characterized by spontaneous exacerbations and remissions. The patient has survived for more than 5 years since the onset of his neurological symptoms. Histopathological characterization including immunoperoxidase staining for T-cell markers, DNA content, and cell-cycle analysis of brain tissue obtained at stereotactic biopsy were compared to those of atypical lymphoid cells of peripheral blood, bone marrow, and liver. The neurological manifestations and possible etiologies of T-cell lymphoma are discussed.
Software development is fundamentally a collaborative task. Developers, sometimes geographically distributed, collectively work on different parts of a project. The challenge of ensuring that their contributions consistently build on one another is a major concern for collaborative development and implies concerns with effective communication, task administration and exchange of documents and information concerning the project. In this demo, we present WikiDev 2.0, a lightweight wiki-based tool suite that enhances collaboration within software development teams. WikiDev 2.0 integrates information from multiple development tools and displays the results through its wikibased front-end. The tool also offers several analysis techniques and visualizations that improve the project-status awareness of the team.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
