The Joint Modeling and Simulation System (JMASS) is proposed as the Air Force standard Modeling and Simulation (M&S) system for development, acquisition, and test and evaluation (T&E). Through this approach, the Air Force is trying to reduce M&S cost and time to market through reuse of modeling assets. However, if it is not designed to be reused, then the opportunity to reduce cost and save schedule will be lost. What does it mean to be reusable within MASS? The JMASS System Program Office (SPO), ASCISMJ, has established a compliance standard and testing methodology. Once a model is certified as compliant, the M&S community can use the model with a high degree of confidence that the model will operate within MASS. This paper will review the standards and the JMASS SPO's current approach to certification.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
