The aim of this study is to investigate the use of alternative methods in pain, insomnia and fatigue of foreign students. Materials and Methods: This research was carried out with 100 international students studying at a university in Turkey. Socio-demographic characteristics of the students prepared by the researchers in accordance with the literature information (gender, age, thickness etc.) 30question data collection form which evaluates some of the features associated with the use of taste. Percent, frequency and mean tests were used in the evaluation of the data. Results: The average age of the foreign students participating in the study is 21.52.43% of the students are female and 57% are male students. 79% of the students are Syrian, 15% Afghans, 6% Turkmen nationality. When 49% of foreign students encountered sleep problems, 34% applied for Complementary Alternative Treatment (TAT) in the case of tiredness and 13% applied for pain management. 45% of the students in pain management, 27% in fatigue, 21% in sleep problem when faced with the pharmacological methods were found to apply. Conclusion: In this study, it was determined that the students applied to the methods of Complementary Alternative Treatment when they encountered the most sleep problem and preferred the pharmacological methods in pain management.
This study was planned to review adolescent mothers' sex life quality for the time till 12th month postpartum. Methods: This is a descriptive study that was composed of 60 adolescent mothers who met the criteria and appealed to a family health center in Turkey's southeast region between January-June 2018. Inquiry form and Sex Life Quality Scale-Female (SLQS-F) that determine the socio-demographic attributes of participants were used as the data collection tool. Results: Age average of adolescent mothers was found as 18.50±0.74. With reference to another findings, there is a statistically significant relationship (p<0.05) between marriage age and sex life quality; smoking affects sex life quality adversely; sex life quality of companionate marriages is higher ( p<0.05) in comparison with arranged marriages; mode of delivery affects the sex life quality; sex life quality of adolescents who experience vaginal delivery is lower in comparison with adolescents who prefer cesarean. Sex life quality of adolescents was found as ultra-low. Conclusions: It was determined that adolescents whose marriage age is more advanced have better quality of sexual life than adolescents who married younger. It is revealed at the end of the research that as the age decreases, the sex life quality becomes poor at the same time.
Aromatherapy offers energy, treatment, and the balancing of body, mind, and soul by both scientific and artistic approaches. It is a non-pharmacological method that releases the healing power of essential oils obtained from herbal resources for improving a person mentally, physically and spiritually and also provides homeostasis. Aromatherapy has been used for 4,000 years as an integrative and complementary care practice. The purpose of this literature review is to analyze the studies of aromatherapy conducted in Turkey. In particular, regarding the type of research, investigators characteristics, sampling, subjects, and conclusions of the studies. M Ma at te er ri ia al l a an nd d M Me et th ho od ds s: : Theses and studies about aromatherapy conducted by nurses between the years of 2007-2017 are included in this study. The data from the theses were obtained from the 'Turkey National Thesis Database' and the databases of medicine and nursing (ScienceDirect, Pubmed, and Ulakbim). The research sample comprises 35 studies conducted in Turkey between the years of 2007-2017. R Re es su ul lt ts s: : There were 35 studies about aromatherapy conducted in Turkey between 2007 and 2017. Of these, 77.1% (n=27) were postgraduate and doctoral theses. In this survey, 25.7% (n=9) are postgraduate theses, 51.4% (n=18) are doctoral theses, and 22.8% are research papers. Aromatherapy is mostly researched in doctoral theses in Turkey. C Co on nc cl lu us si io on n: : It was observed that pregnant women, the elderly, and patients with osteoarthritis, dementia, and cancer are most analyzed in studies conducted about the application of aromatherapy. In these studies, aromatherapy was used for pain control, relieving constipation, managing symptoms such as tiredness and anxiety, and increasing the quality of life. It is thought that aromatherapy has a positive effect on physiological and psychological well-being. Ease of use, efficiency and affordability are factors that increase the use of aromatherapy. To continue in this direction, nurses need to apply therapies that have multi-dimensional benefits, such as aromatherapy, correctly and effectively by learning from experienced professionals and attach these applications to nursing care by analyzing evidence-based surveys in the relevant areas.
