This study aims to improve students’ mathematical problem-solving ability through the Problem-Based Learning Model in Fractions learning material at grade VII of Junior High School SMP Negeri 10 Gorontalo. This classroom action research (CAR) involved 25 students as the subject and were conducted collaboratively between the researcher and teachers. This research was carried out in two cycles, and the first and second cycle consisted of three meetings, respectively. The instruments applied were an observation sheet of the teacher’s ability to manage the Problem-Based Learning Model, the observation sheet of students’ activity using the model above, and the ability tests to solve mathematical problems in the Fraction material. Further, the data were collected from observation and written tests. The results show an enhancement of the teacher’s ability in managing the Problem-Based Learning model and students’ activity using this model and the outcomes of mathematical problem-solving skill in the fractions learning material from cycle I to cycle II. Therefore, this finding indicates that the Problem-Based Learning model can be accepted as an alternative in learning Fractions at the research site.
This article discusses the influence of emotional intelligence and learning motivation on students' mathematics learning outcomes with the aim of knowing: 1) the positive direct effect of emotional intelligence on students' mathematics learning outcomes, 2) the positive direct influence of learning motivation on students' mathematics learning outcomes, 3) direct influence positive emotional intelligence on learning motivation. The method used is a survey method using a path analysis model. The sampling technique used is simple random sampling. The collection of data on emotional intelligence and learning motivation was carried out using a questionnaire and data on mathematics learning outcomes using an objective test. The results showed that: 1) there was a positive direct effect of emotional intelligence on students' mathematics learning outcomes of 68.60%, (2) there was a direct positive influence of learning motivation on students' mathematics learning outcomes of 30.90%, (3) there was a direct influence positive emotional intelligence on motivation to learn by 81.60%.
Persentase jumlah mahasiswa program studi pendidikan matematika dengan tingkat disposisi matematis yang tinggi, sedang dan rendah berturut-turut adalah 14,89%, 68,09% dan 17,02%.Mathematical disposition is an affective aspect that needs to be developed and improved during lectures because mathematical disposition can support learning success in attending lectures. This study aims to describe the mathematical disposition of Mathematics Education students in the Calculus 1 course at the State University of Gorontalo. The subjects of this study were students of mathematics education, amounting to 47 students. The instrument used is a questionnaire, which is accompanied by participatory observation. To measure the mathematical disposition of mathematics education students in the calculus 1 course, it can be seen from 6 indicators, which are: (1) Confidence; (2) Persistence and Perseverance; (3) Flexible; (4) Interests and Curiosities; (5) Reflection; (6) Appreciation. Data were analyzed quantitatively in the form of percentages. The results showed that in general the average mathematical disposition of students was 69.57%, namely in the medium category. The percentages of students in the mathematics education study program who have high, medium, and low levels of mathematical disposition are 14.89%, 68.09%, and 17.02%, respectively.
The purpose of this research is to improve students’ mathematics learning outcomes on ball material through interactive multimedia learning with discovery learning models. This research was conducted in class IX-4 of MTs Negeri 2 Boalemo in the 2019/2020 school year with a total of 21 student. This research is a Classroom Action Research conducted with 1 cycle. The instruments used are in the form of teacher activity observation sheets, student activity observation sheets, and learning outcomes tests. The results of observations of teacher activities obtained a minimum category of good or very good with a percentage of 87.5% and the results of observations of student activities obtained a minimum category of good or very good with a percentage of 91%. Meanwhile, for the learning outcomes test, 19 students achieved the Minimum Completeness Criteria (KKM), or about 90.5%, and 2 students did not complete the test, or around 9.5%. The average student's mathematics learning outcomes on the ball material are 89% or meet the indicators of success
