In Kenya, the motorcycle taxi industry has thrived significantly after motorcycles below 150cc were zero-rated by the government in 2007. While several studies have been done on the motorcycle taxi business in Kenya, no conclusive study has examined entrepreneurial orientation. This research gap is what the study aimed to address by examining the transport sector characteristics and the entrepreneurial orientation sustainability of motorcycle taxi businesses in Nairobi County. The specific objective of the study was: to examine the effect of entrepreneurial orientation on the sustainability of motorcycle business in Nairobi County. The descriptive research design was adopted to explain the interaction between the determinant variables and entrepreneurial orientation on the sustainability of the motorcycle business. The study sampled 249 motorcycle taxi operators from a population in Nairobi County using a systematic random sampling technique. Primary data was used and the data was obtained from motorcycle taxi operators using questionnaires. For reliability, a pilot study was conducted. Multiple linear regression analysis was conducted to establish the existing relationships between the variables under study and data presented using tables, graphs, and charts. Findings revealed that entrepreneurial orientation had a significant influence on the sustainability of Motorcycle Taxi Businesses in Nairobi County. Based on the findings, it was concluded that motorcycle taxi businesses in Nairobi County are growing at a faster rate and becoming sustainable majorly due to entrepreneurial orientation. It was recommended that: Motorcycle taxi business owners and operators need to develop strategic orientation, as well as capture specific entrepreneurial aspects of decision-making styles, methods, and practices to improve their business performance and hence sustainability. The operations of the motorcycle taxi business in the country are characterized by a very high rate of fatal accidents and deaths resulting from road traffic accidents and litigations hence raising questions on the sustainability of the motorcycle taxi business. Research on the role of technological development in enhancing the sector in Nairobi County is, however, scanty. The objective of the study was to determine the effect of technological development on the sustainability of the motorcycle business in Nairobi County. The study was conducted among motorcycle taxi operators. The descriptive research design was adopted. A sample of 249 motorcycle taxi operators in Nairobi County was selected using a systematic random sampling technique. Data was collected using questionnaires. Before data collection, piloting, instrument reliability, and validity, a pilot study was conducted. Data were computed for descriptive statistics (frequencies, means, and percentages) and inferential statistics such as Pearson correlations and Regression analysis. The findings were presented using tables, graphs, and charts. The study revealed that technology development did not have a significant influence on Motorcycle Taxi Businesses sustainability in Kenya. Most motorcycle operators, however, reported that technological innovation had contributed to stiff competition for the motorcycle taxi business which is healthy for business sustainability. Slightly more than 50% of the respondents indicated that technological innovation in the alternative transport sector has enhanced transaction processes between motorcycle taxi operators and their customers. Following this, the study recommended that motorcycle taxi operators should be encouraged to increasingly embrace technology to improve their efficiency and hence business sustainability. It was also found, most of the operators are trained in road safety, and they apply the skills during their daily operations to a fair extent. Following this, the study recommended that Training should be provided to motorcycle taxi operators on entrepreneurship skills to operators of motorcycle taxi is highly required. Some motorcycle taxi operators who generate sufficient income should be equipped with relevant knowledge of entrepreneurship. Driving schools in the collaboration with the NTSA need to come up with a friendly payment plan for driving school fees that is affordable. The study employed primary data that was collected through questionnaires given to motorcycle taxi drivers. A pilot study was carried out to evaluate the validity and reliability of the research tools. To determine the current links between the variables under investigation and the data shown in tables, graphs, and charts, a Multiple Linear Regression analysis was performed. The findings of the study revealed that business support services had a significant influence on the sustainability of Motorcycle Taxi Businesses in Nairobi County. It was recommended that: The government should avail business support services to the motorcycle taxi operators to improve the growth and sustainability of business in the sector and offer subsidies to those who want to engage in the motorcycle taxi business and put strict regulations to control the provision of these services.
