Nineteen cases of twenty-one fractures of the upper end of the tibia have been treated in the last five years in our clinic. The 12 patients, (13 fractures) were male and 7 patients, (8 fractures) were female. The ages ranged from seventeen to seventy-six years old. The follow-up ranged from three months to four years and seven months. Fractures were classified by Hohl's classification : undisplaced type in 4 cases, local depression type in 6 cases, total depression type in 3 cases. and comminuted type in 8 cases. The methods of treatment were as follows external fixation was performed in four cases, open internal fixation in seventeen cases. and bone grafting was necessary in four cases. The results showed that fifeteen cases were excellent or good by Hohl evaluation.
