[reaction: see text]. A new group-selective reaction is described, that is, the hydroalumination of bis-alkynyl alcohols armed with an adjacent stereogenic center, giving stereo-defined tert-alcohols of potential utility in natural product synthesis.

-123Novel Migrating Group in 1,2-Anionotropic Reactions:Cobalt Complexation Facilitates 1,2-Shift of Alkynyl Groups.-It is shown that the oxide-induced 1,2-shift of complexes (III) occurs readily to ketones (IV), whereas the clean alkynyl compound (I) does not give (V). When AlMe3 is used as a promotor the reaction proceeds at lower temperature, but the migration is shown to depend on the alkynyl substituent. Some further examples demonstrate the stereospecificity of the 1,2-shift. -(NAGASAWA, T.; TAYA, K.; KITAMURA, M.; SUZUKI, K.; J.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
