The purpose of the paper is identifying features that are common for work-life balance and well-being. The first part of the article treats about well-being and its determinant. Next authors are presenting work-life balance and factors influencing the issue. The paper considers both described concepts in the context of positive organizational scholarschip (POS), which is focused specifically on the study of positive outcomes, processes, and attributes of organizations and their members (Cameron and Spreitzer, 2011). There is also an author's tool described (Work-Life Balance Barometer®). This example of a research tool was analyzed in terms of finding common measures for both phenomena. The method used for the aim of the article is a critical literature review including foreign articles and polish literature from the last 10 years. Authors selected publications that are presenting an issue of work-life balance and well-being. Findings are showing that work-life balance and well-being are strongly connected and has many common areas which can be researched. Conclusions are devoted to indicate directions of further research in the area. The originality of the paper results from presenting a research tool (Work-Life Balance Barometer®) which is accessible on-line in two languages on Sensorium24.com. The idea of the barometer is conducting longitudinal research. The first edition of the Work-Life Balance Barometer® ended on 31th of December 2015.
Although European energy policy supports the reduction of energy consumption, the current economic and political situation in Poland and uncertainty related to the origin of energy sources do not support it. Therefore, the aim of this paper is to identify and assess the factors that affect the energy-saving behaviour of Polish consumers in the process of energy consumption. The research problem concerns the specificity of behaviours that are part of new trends in consumption, such as greening and the ethical dimension of consumption. The research question arises as to what the social responsibility of consumers is in the process of energy consumption. The research problem comes down to the question of factors that determine the behaviour of an individual consumer in the energy market. In order to realise the indicated purpose of the article, a conceptual research model was built and direct research was conducted using the research method, which was an online survey (CAWI). The research was run among 1422 individual consumers. After verifying 14 research hypotheses, it can be concluded that energy-saving behaviour is influenced in similar ways by a set of factors. In the paper there are findings which show that the generally understood energy-saving behaviour (Y1—at home and Y2—off-site) is influenced by the following factors: X1—energy-saving knowledge, X3—green consumer values, X5—social influence, X6—beliefs, and X7—consumer awareness. The specific mechanism of influence of each of the dominant factors is that the higher the intensity of these factors in consumer behaviour, the more actions are taken to save energy inside or outside the home. However, X2—energy-saving cost perception and X4—materialism presents this influence mechanism only for Y1—energy-saving behaviour at home.
The aim of the paper is to present the method of management by objectives in measuring effectiveness of teams. The main elements of this method -goals and tasks -were used to measure teams' work on the same project. The quantitative measurers of goals and tasks let assess an effectiveness of teams and compare teams to one another. The methodology of the research was an experiment conducted with on-line management tools named goaler® and tasker® based on the system of organizational terms. This theoretical foundation represent system and positivist approach to management. However, this approach was developed in the mix research method. This paper contains quantitative results and conclusions about effectiveness of teams. For this purpose following measurers were used: numbers of goals and tasks in each group, numbers of actions taken by team managers, duration of teamwork, number of goals and tasks editions. Despite the fact that the method of management by objectives is thoroughly described and parameterized, human contribution in the application of the method in practice appeared still crucial. However, the originality of this paper comes from implementing online management tools which are based on the system of organizational terms and using them to measure human behavior.
The new reality resulting from COVID-19 has introduced changes in the functioning of many organizations, which has an impact on their employees. Observation of management practice shows the growing importance of remote work, often employees are also more workload due to the absence of colleagues. The new situation may also be accompanied by a higher than usual level of employees’ uncertainty about their jobs, especially when the activities of their companies have been limited or suspended. All of this is likely to affect the work-life balance of the employees. Qualitative empirical research has been carried out to understand the possible consequences of a (post) pandemic on work-life balance. Presented research make presents the potential effects of the new situation for the area of work and life of employees and work-life balance and indicate possible future directions of research in this field.
Networking, datafication and platformization are irreversible and ubiquitous processes that have fundamentally changed the conditions and the ways that the economy functions, nowadays called the digital economy (4.0). Digital economy as a relatively new phenomenon is a cognitively interesting object of research conducted in Poland and abroad. The aim of this paper is to present areas of research conducted in the field of digital economy during the last eleven years. An additional result of the research is an attempt to conceptualize and operationalize the concept of digital economy. The research was based on bibliometric analysis of scientific articles indexed in selected journal databases. They play a significant role in learning about the results of research conducted in various national and foreign research centers, hence their analysis was considered an appropriate scientific method to achieve the indicated purpose.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
