The inability to cope successfully with the enormous stress of medical education may lead to a cascade of consequences at both a personal and professional level. Although common, depression associates with a high degree of disability and chronicity, with symptoms such as low mood, lack of energy, poor concentration, low self-esteem, and a lack of interest in the environment however stress has been shown to have deleterious effects on one's physical and mental well-being .The extreme stress levels inherent in the medical profession, put premedical and medical students at risk for both physical and psychological problems. The aim of this study is to determine the workload stress which leads to different health problems in medical and dental students during their undergraduate training. It was a self-administered questionnaire based survey conducted on 114 medical and dental students (32 males and 118 females) who were randomly selected in Fatima Jinnah Dental College and
Objective The aim of the study is to find out amount of physical stress among cardiovascular disease (CVD) patients and its relation with hypertension. Background Physical stress is defined as a pressure -force and strain a state of physical mental tension. Stress is among the mental factors that has for some time been recorded among the potential. Furthermore, essential hazard variables of hypertension and coronary illness. Methodology A cross-sectional study was conducted in the patients of department of Cardiology at tertiary hospitals, Karachi, from January 2014 to December 2014. Sadaf stress scale (SSS) 2.0 was used to find out the physical stress. Results It showed physical stress among CVD patients about n=39 (43.3%) have moderate physical stress. which was decreased over time after 5 year of illness as compared to the patient who have disease for less than 5 years. While systolic blood pressure among subjects with severe physical stress showed an average systolic B.P. of 147mmhg, moderate have 146mmhg and patients with mild physical stress have 135mmhg. Conclusion This report concluded moderate physical stress among CVD patients which was decrease over time due different coping mechanism and blood pressures are directly related to severity of physical stress mainly systolic which lead to hypertension.
Pesticides are most commonly used throughout the world for agriculture, even some of them, although forbidden due to their severe toxicity and ill health effects are being used in developing countries including Pakistan. Increased pesticide exposure, especially in cotton growing areas of Sindh and Punjab along with poverty, lack of education, poor hygiene and insufficient precautionary measures are leading to increasing health problems. Few investigations have been completed regarding this matter. This review has tried to identify the factors contributing to ill health effects of pesticides in agriculture worker's suggestive preventive measures. Studies were located using Medline database. All Searches included the key headings Pesticides combined with agriculture workers and health effects. Inclusion criteria included studies carried out since 1997 related to pesticide exposure and its ill health effects on agricultural workers. A total of twenty studies was selected during search for four categories of health effects. The studies on acute human toxicity and animal toxicology were excluded. The effects of pesticide on health showed the strongest relationship with neurotoxicity. All the studies reviewed showed evidence of ill health effects mainly on the nervous system, skin, Respiratory and reproductive systems. The farmers working in agricultural fields should be monitored with a passage of time to avoid the spread of diseases due to pesticide residues.
