In this paper, newly‐developed 5.0‐inch full‐HD (1080 × RGBW × 1920) and 7.0‐inch WQXGA (2560 × RGBW × 1600) prototype LCDs utilizing a new RGBW method are described in detail. The assessment of the image quality of the new RGBW technology is described, such as color image reproducibility, white color tracking in the low power mode and tone curve correction in the outdoor bright mode.
In this paper a 12.2‐inch 1920 × RGBW × 720 prototype LCD for automotive use which integrates an in‐cell touch panel is described with some electrical and electro‐optical characteristics. In addition, the prototype of a curved‐faced and non‐rectangular form of this cited LCD is described.
In this paper, the analysis and cause of image quality deterioration of an RGBW display is described. We have found that some distortions are caused by the combination of luminance distribution in a pixel scale and the human visual system. A newly-developed RGBW calculation is proposed to solve this problem.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
