Si quantum dots (Si-QDs) with Ge core were self-assembled on thermally grown SiO2 from alternate thermal decomposition of pure SiH4 and GeH4 diluted with He. When the sample was excited by the 979 nm line of a semiconductor laser, fairly broad photoluminescence (PL) spectra in the region of 0.6–0.8 eV were observed at room temperature. The observed PL spectra suggested that radiative recombination of photo-generated carriers through quantized states of Ge core is the dominant pathway for the emission from the dots, reflecting the type II energy band discontinuity between the Si clad and Ge core. We also found that P-δ doping to Ge core plays an important role in recombination through the quantized states in the valence band of Ge core and P donor levels.
The intramolecular cycloaddition of C-phenyl-lV-(endo-bicyclo[3.2.1]oct-6-en-3-ylmethyl)nitrone (3) generated in situ from the corresponding hydroxylamine and benzaldehyde gave the adduct 4 in a high yield. Reductive cleavage of 4 afforded 2-endo-hydroxy-4-endo-phenyl-5-azatricyclo[5.3.1.03,9]undecane (6). The intramolecular cycloadditions of unsymmetrical jV-(endo-bicyclo[2.2.1]hept-5-en-2-ylmethyl)nitrones (11a,b) and N-(endo-hicyclo[2.2.2]oct-5-en-2-ylmethyl)nitrones (23a,b) occurred regiospecifically to afford the adducts 12a,b and 24a,b, respectively. Reductive cleavage of these adducts provided a convenient route to functionalized 5-azatricyclo-[S^.l.O^Jdecanes (15a,b, 16,17) and 5-azatricyclo[5.3.1.03,8]undecanes (27a,b, 28,29), respectively. The regiochemical and stereochemical assignments of 12a and 24a were proven by X-ray analysis of the methiodides 14a and 26a, respectively.Recently we have reported a convenient stereospecific
SUMMARY
Electroclinical features of neonatal seizures were studied in 215 neonates who developed seizures during the first three weeks of life. In 62 of them, clinical fits occurred during the actual polygraphic recording. The electro‐clinical correlations were very variable, although there were some statistically significant associations between certain types of seizures and electrical discharges.
The relation between seizures and sleep states was investigated in 40 infants who had more than three fits during the recording. The state in which more than 70% of seizures occurred was active sleep in 28% of the cases, quiet sleep in 13%, indeterminate sleep in 8%, and wakefulness in 8%. In 50%, seizures did not tend to occur in a given state.

Si quantum dots (Si-QDs) with Ge core were self-assembled on thermally grown SiO2 from alternate thermal decomposition of pure SiH4 and GeH4 diluted with H2. When the sample was excited by a 979 nm line of semiconductor laser at room temperature, photoluminescence (PL) spectra peaked at 0.6-0.75 eV were observed. It is interesting noted that, with decreasing the Ge core size, the PL signals were shifted towered the higher energy side reflecting quantum size effect. We also found that surface passivation of selectively-grown Ge on pre-grown Si-QDs by the formation of Si clad, namely formation of core/shell structures, can enhance the light emission from the Ge core.
