Take Home Message We reviewed the literature to identify studies investigating circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) in patients with renal cell carcinoma (RCC). We found that the ctDNA levels are low in RCC, but the use of tumor-guided analysis improves detection rates and cell-free methylated DNA immunoprecipitation and high-throughput sequencing is a sensitive method for ctDNA detection in RCC.
