Time lag constant that is response time period from environment temperature to air-conditioner electricity consumption and Q-value that is the index expressing heat penetrating rate per unit floor area, are estimated for a campus building in Daido University. In diagnosis of the building in view of energy saving, the building total energy consumption and peak energy consumption are both very important issue. The total energy consumption is closely related to building insulation performance. The insulation ability is expressed by Q-value. On the other hand, the peak energy consumption related to time lag of the heat transfer from the environment to the interior space. These data is obtained by autumn-winter data. By these data, the building model is constructed and should be examined by spring-winter data.
Theoretical study was carried out to investigate the frictional property of belt wrapped three times around a circular shaft. A belt equation of fractional expression was derived. The self-locking mechanism was investigated theoretically by the equation. The discriminant of self-locking condition was clarified. The necessary conditions for self-locking are µ b < µ and sufficient wrapping angle of the belt, where µ is the coefficient of friction between the belt and shaft and µ b is the coefficient of friction between the belt and belt. According to the formula derived, self-locking occurs even under a realistic condition. It occurs when the ratio of belt tensions becomes 0 or negative. Providing the coefficient of friction µ and the ratio of the coefficients of friction κ = µ b /µ, some critical over-wrapping angles for self-locking were calculated numerically. Furthermore some normal force distributions in self-locking conditions were calculated theoretically.
Simple goniometer for hip joint was developed utilizing universal joint. It uses two angular sensors and a displacement meter of the strain gauge-type. Accurate positioning is not necessary for the goniometer developed, which was the problem of conventional goniometer. Basing upon a mechanical model, the center of hip joint was estimated theoretically by the least-square method. The slide tracks on a femoral head were calculated. According to the results, characteristic patterns were obtained that reflected the way of walking of each subject.
A novel one-way clutch was developed utilizing self-locking property of belt and experimental study was carried out to confirm the fundamental property of the clutch. Unlike conventional couplings or clutch, the belt-type clutch works effectively even in an off-centered condition. Experiments were carried out changing the parallel distance between the shafts under constant braking torque condition. It was confirmed experimentally that the rotation of driver shaft was transmitted to the follower shaft without any slip even in some off-centered conditions. An effect of off-centered distance between the two shafts on angular velocity was evaluated experimentally and compared with the theoretical value. The fluctuation in angular velocity increases with an increment of the off-centered distance as predicted by the theory.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
