Grasses in Poland: invincible, but threatenedThe paper presents problems connected with expansiveness and threats of grasses in Poland. Some subjectively selected grass species are given. They have conventionally been divided into two opposite groups: (i) expansive or even invasive grasses, referred to here as "invincible", and (ii) grasses that are threatened for a variety of reasons, and deserving protection.
The authors give results of karyological studies carried out on 20 species of vascular plants from Poland. Most of the results are reported for the first time for this country. The chromosome number of Gnaphalium hoppeanum 2n=28 was established for the first time.
