The unusual brightening of the RSCVn-type variable SV Cam reported by PATKOS (1982a) is analysed. We base our analysis on the assumption of a temporarily existing bright spot which appeared on the primary star of the binary system. A location near the stellar equator and a spot radius of 70" are derived. According to our analysis, the temperature difference between the spot and its surroundings was up to 110 K. The spot's existence is related to an observed change of the orbital period. Both findings are interpreted as caused by mass exchange resp. accretion.Es wird die von PATKOS (1982a)
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
