O-(β-hydroxyethyl)-rutosides (HR) was compared with placebo in a double blind trial lasting 1 month in patients suffering from oedema, pain, heaviness and cramps in the lower limbs associated with chronic venous insufficiency. HR was significantly more effective than placebo in reducing oedema. There also appeared to be a greater effect on pain, heaviness and cramps.
